Bandit Steals $67,000 In Cash From Unlocked Car In Gasparillo — Businessman Followed From Republic Bank
A business owner’s vehicle was reportedly targeted and robbed of $67,000 in cash outside his home in Gasparillo on Wednesday afternoon (3rd June, 2026), less than an hour after he withdrew the money from a bank.
According to reports, the businessman visited Republic Bank Limited (RBL) at Valpark Shopping Plaza, Valsayn, and withdrew $67,000 in cash, around 3:30 PM. The money was placed inside a large brown envelope before he returned to his black Toyota Corolla and drove home.
Upon arriving at his residence, the man parked the vehicle in an open area near his home, around 4:30 PM. He then went inside, leaving the vehicle unlocked with its windows down. The envelope containing the cash, along with a bank statement, remained on the front passenger seat.
However, approximately ten (10) minutes later, he returned to the vehicle and discovered that both the envelope and bank statement were missing.
CCTV footage showed a silver Toyota Aqua pull up alongside his vehicle. A man alighted from the front passenger seat of the Aqua, leaned through the open window of the parked Corolla, removed the envelope containing the cash and documents, and fled the scene.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
More on this as it becomes available.
