Met Office Monitoring TWO (2) Approaching Tropical Waves
Meteorologist Gary Benjamin of the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has provided an update on two (2) approaching Tropical Waves and the likely weather conditions Trinidad and Tobago can expect in the coming days.
According to Mr. Benjamin today (Wednesday 3rd June, 2026), the axes of two (2) Tropical Waves being monitored by the Met Office are now to the near-East of Trinidad and Tobago. As was forecast, the country is likely to begin to experience varying extents of cloudiness and showers between tomorrow (Thursday 4th June, 2026) and Sunday (7th June, 2026). The chances for the development of a heavy shower or isolated thunderstorm activity is at this time estimated to be medium to high, approximately 50% to 80%.
In the event of a heavy shower or thunderstorm, winds are likely to become gusty and some street or flash flooding can be expected in the vicinity. There is also the possibility of landslips or landslides in areas so prone.
Mr. Benjamin notes that with the interference of varying concentrations of Saharan dust, the weather is expected to be very variable during this time.
Please continue to pay attention to the latest forecasts, alerts, and information issued by the TTMS.
