Here’s The 5-Day Weather Outlook For T&T — From Saturday Through Wednesday
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), the track of passing Winter frontal systems continues to be generally more Northerly at this time. This has been allowing the mid sub-tropical Atlantic high cells to establish a dominant influence in the weather pattern over the Tropical North Atlantic. The configuration continues to be a long and generally straight fetch across the Tropical North Atlantic, with very little perturbation but varying levels of surface convergence and patches of moisture advection. The energy out of the high pressure cells will continue to generate steady, moderate to strong, near-surface to mid-level winds during this outlook period.
The seas in the open waters to the near-East and Northeast of Trinidad and Tobago continue to be moderate to rough, with wave heights between 2.5m to 3.0m.A Hazardous Seas Alert (Yellow Level) and High Winds Alert (Yellow Level) are in effect until Monday 17th February, 2025.
Extended analysis is indicating that after Monday (17th February, 2025), there is expected to be a gradual reduction in the rough sea conditions, but it will remain moderate to rough until Saturday (22nd February, 2025), when there is likely to be a noticeable tapering off to mostly moderate.
Persons are advised to continue to monitor the sea conditions and always take precautions in marine activities.
The near-surface to mid-level winds are expected to be moderate to strong over this outlook period and beyond. Analysis is showing that the core strength in the vertical is around 2,500 ft to 5,000 ft, and the strongest flow is from North Trinidad, Northward. While there is likely to be some fluctuation at times, generally breezy, sometimes windy conditions can be expected, which could become gusty, especially in elevated areas or in the vicinity of any shower that might occur.
Extended analysis is indicating that there is likely to be some noticeable reduction in strength by Saturday (22nd February, 2025).
The Met Office notes that presently, there is a generally mild Saharan dust concentration in the atmosphere, which is fluctuating to moderate at times. Nearing the end of this outlook period, an increase to moderate is likely by Wednesday (19th February, 2025).
Persons who are likely to be affected are advised to take the necessary precautions.
For this outlook period, we can expect generally breezy and, at times, windy conditions, with partly cloudy interruptions producing brief showers over varying areas. There will be the chance for the development of an isolated, moderate to heavy shower, especially near hilly areas and during the afternoons, late nights, or early mornings. Sea and wind conditions will be varying, and therefore persons are advised to look out for any alerts that might be issued by the TTMS.
