Today: Partly Cloudy, 25% Chance For Heavy Showers — Moderate To High Saharan Dust; 33°C Max

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect partly cloudy conditions today (Saturday 6th June, 2026), with a few showers, and the low (25%) chance of isolated heavy showers, favouring Trinidad. Conditions are expected to become temporarily settled and hazy this afternoon into this evening.  Tonight will be mostly fair but hazy. Conditions will become increasingly cloudy with a few showers near Midnight. From Midnight, cloudy conditions with intermittent showers/periods of rain are expected. There is also a medium (40% - 60%) chance of isolated heavy showers/thunderstorms, favouring Trinidad. The Met Office notes the following: In the event of heavy showers, gusty winds are likely and street/flash flooding may occur in areas so prone. Government Announces Mid-Year Budget Review On Monday 15th June, 2026

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago announced in Parliament this afternoon (Friday 5th June, 2026) that the Mid-Year Budget Review will be presented by Minister of Finance, the Honourable Davendranath Tancoo, at 10:30 AM on Monday 15th June, 2026.   Prior to that date, the Finance Bill (2026) will be read at 10:30 AM on Wednesday 10th June, 2026, followed by a meeting of the Standing Finance Committee at 1:30 PM on Friday 12th June, 2026. Government has announced the Mid Year Budget review will be presented by Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo on June 15. Bandit Steals $67,000 In Cash From Unlocked Car In Gasparillo — Businessman Followed From Republic Bank

A business owner’s vehicle was reportedly targeted and robbed of $67,000 in cash outside his home in Gasparillo on Wednesday afternoon (3rd June, 2026), less than an hour after he withdrew the money from a bank. According to reports, the businessman visited Republic Bank Limited (RBL) at Valpark Shopping Plaza, Valsayn, and withdrew $67,000 in cash, around 3:30 PM. The money was placed inside a large brown envelope before he returned to his black Toyota Corolla and drove home. Upon arriving at his residence, the man parked the vehicle in an open area near his home, around 4:30 PM. He then went inside, leaving the vehicle unlocked with its windows down. The envelope containing the cash, along with a bank statement, remained on the front passenger seat. However, approximately ten (10) minutes later, he returned to the vehicle and discovered that both the envelope and bank statement were missing. Reports: 5 Persons Shot In Malick — 2 Dead, 3 Wounded; Police On The Scene

UPDATE 2:  One of the deceased victims, Oren Danglade, also known as “Grimey,” was previously linked to investigations into the murder of 33-year-old Jamal Carter, also known as “Big Joe,” who was shot dead in Morvant on 16th May, 2026. In that incident, Carter, of Coconut Drive, Morvant, was liming near a wooden structure at Arneaud Avenue off Lady Young Road, when three (3) armed men approached and opened fire. Crime scene investigators recovered twenty-six (26) spent 9mm shell casings and one (1) live round. Detectives are now examining whether the deadly attack in Malick on Friday (5th June, 2026) may be linked to ongoing gang conflicts and retaliatory violence connected to recent murders in East Port-of-Spain and Morvant. DOUBLE Murder In Longdenville, Chaguanas — Brother And Sister Shot Dead By Lone Gunman

Two (2) siblings are dead following a brutal shooting incident in Longdenville, Chaguanas, last night (Thursday 4th June, 2026). The deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Brian “Regis” Clarke and his elder sister, 55-year-old Margarita Clarke. Both lived along the Longdenville Old Road. Reports state that the siblings were shot and killed by a lone masked gunman who stormed their residence, around 8:00 PM. T&TEC: NO Electricity On Friday In Parts of Valencia And Sangre Grande

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Valencia and Sangre Grande on Friday (5th June, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.   According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Valencia and Sangre Grande are as follows:  VALENCIA From LP #2 Smithfield Land heading North. SANGRE GRANDE Vega de Oropouche. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

Woman Rescued From Car In La Fillette After Kidnapping; 22-Year-Old Man Arrested

Officers of the North Eastern Division (NED) rescued a woman from a vehicle in the La Fillette district, and arrested a male suspect, following a report of kidnapping, which occurred on Monday (1st June, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), reports indicate that a female victim was at her Diego Martin home, around 7:05 PM, when a man known to her came to the house and asked to speak with her. When she refused, he allegedly grabbed her, resulting in a struggle. During the altercation, the victim alleges she observed what appeared to be a firearm tucked into his waistband.  The victim managed to push the man out of the house and closed the door, but he re-entered through an unsecured kitchen window and proceeded to search her bedroom for her cellular phone. The man located the phone and took it to his vehicle. However, when the victim attempted to retrieve the phone, the man allegedly pulled her into the vehicle and drove off with her against her will....

Chaguanas Vendor Arrested After Selling Potatoes From Dump Along Narsaloo Ramaya Road

UPDATE 2:   The vendor, identified as 35-year-old Rajindera Ali of Enterprise, Chaguanas, appeared before a Chaguanas District Judge on Thursday (4th June 2026), where he was granted $20,000 bail after pleading not guilty to charges stemming from the incident. Ali was arrested following an operation along Narsaloo Ramaya Road, near Price Plaza. Investigators claim that during enquiries, the vendor admitted to obtaining several sacks of potatoes from the Claxton Bay Dump before allegedly offering them for sale. He has been charged with littering and illegally operating a roadside stall. However, Police say additional charges may be laid, pending the outcome of public health tests being conducted on the potatoes. Authorities are seeking to determine whether the produce posed a risk to consumers and whether any public health laws were breached.
