Missing 2-Year-Old Angelo Tobias: Police Focus Search In Tobago Landfill; 3 Persons Now In Custody

UPDATE 2: The TTPS confirmed today (Tuesday 19th May, 2026) that seven (7) persons — three (3) females and four (4) males — have been detained as investigations continue into the disappearance of 2-year-old Angelo Tobias. The Cyber Unit is analyzing electronic devices seized, while searches continue in Tobago.

UPDATE: Members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), led by Captain Vallence Rambharat, continued extensive operations at the Studley Park Landfill in Tobago today (Monday 18th May, 2026) as the desperate search for missing 2-year-old Angelo Tobias entered its seventh day. There are growing fears the toddler may have been killed and his body disposed of at the landfill.

Search operations at the landfill were led by Captain Rambharat and involved co-ordinated efforts between search crews, Police investigators and other emergency responders, who combed through large sections of the dump site for possible evidence connected to the child’s disappearance. He remains missing at this time.

According to reports, the mother, stepfather and cousin of missing 2-year-old Angelo Tobias are currently in custody as Police turn their focus to a landfill in Tobago, in the search for Angelo, who is feared dead.

Investigators are said to have intensified searches at the Studley Park Landfill in Tobago amid chilling unconfirmed claims that the missing toddler was killed and his body dumped somewhere in the landfill, before he was officially reported missing.

Police sources say that Angelo’s mother, Khalifa Tobias, her boyfriend, Shannon Miller and another relative, described as the child’s cousin, are currently assisting investigators as the case rapidly shifts from a missing persons investigation to a possible homicide probe.

Search teams, Police Officers and investigators returned to the Studley Park Landfill today (Monday 18th May, 2026), the seventh day since Angelo’s disappearance, following what sources described as credible information suggesting the child was fatally harmed at his stepfather’s home, before his body was allegedly transported to the dump site for disposal.

Investigators are now examining claims that the timeline initially provided by the child’s mother and stepfather was fabricated. CCTV footage showed Khalifa Tobias and Shannon Miller at Cambridge Junction around the same period they claimed Angelo mysteriously disappeared from their home on Monday night (11th May, 2026).

Baby Angelo was reportedly last seen alive on Sunday (10th May, 2026) in Scarborough with his mother, while they were awaiting transportation to travel back to their home in Cambridge Trace, Goodwood.

Further reports alleged that tension existed between Tobias and Miller following an alleged abortion, with heated arguments and threats reportedly taking place shortly before Angelo vanished.

Sources claim Miller allegedly told Tobias: “You kill my child, I will kill yours.”

Police are now attempting to determine whether the child was harmed around that same period before his body was allegedly dumped at the landfill.

The latest disturbing developments have sent shockwaves throughout Tobago, triggering public outrage and emotional reactions from political leaders and citizens alike. On Sunday (17th May, 2026), Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Farley Chavez Augustine, declared in a scathing statement on social media that Tobagonians have “a right to be damn vex” over conflicting accounts and unanswered questions surrounding the case.

“We have a right to be damn vex about how this is unfolding and the Nancy stories that are being peddled,” Augustine stated while insisting that a 2-year-old child could not simply vanish without explanation.

PNM Tobago Deputy Political Leader Shamfa Cudjoe also expressed heartbreak and anger over the developments, describing the case as “an absolute tragedy that hits the very core of our community.”

Meanwhile, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) confirmed that Officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Child Protection Unit (CPU) and Special Victims Department (SVU) remain heavily involved in the investigation.

Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, has also directed additional resources into the matter as the desperate search for answers continues.

Investigations are ongoing at this time.

More on this as it becomes available.
