Following the disappearance of 2-year-old Angelo Tobias of Goodwood, Tobago, on Monday 11th May, 2026, which has gripped the nation as meticulous searches continue, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Farley Chavez Augustine, unleashed a scathing statement on social media, stating in part, that, “We have a right to be damn vex about how this is unfolding and the nancy stories that are being peddled.”
In a Facebook post this afternoon (Sunday 17th May, 2026), Augustine said the following:

Following my public comments on Thursday [14th May, 2026], I have been struggling to be diplomatic about what is transpiring in the full view of the nation. All of last night this child is on my mind.
Tobago is hurting.
The disappearance of two-year-old Angelo Tobias-Plaza of Goodwood has shaken this island to its core. Every mother, every father, every grandparent and every decent citizen feels the weight of this tragedy. A child is missing. A baby. And Tobago refuses to accept silence, excuses or indifference!
For days now, members of the Protective Services, emergency responders, volunteers, villagers, fishermen, hunters and ordinary citizens have searched land and sea in the hope of finding little Angelo. We thank every single person who has stood in solidarity with this child and his family during this painful period.
But let me say this clearly.
TOO MANY QUESTIONS REMAIN UNANSWERED!
The public outrage and heartbreak now being expressed across Tobago and Trinidad are JUSTIFIED. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO BE DAMN VEX ABOUT HOW THIS IS UNFOLDING AND THE NANCY STORIES THAT ARE BEING PEDDLED.
The people are demanding accountability because something about this situation does not sit right with the national conscience. A two-year-old child does not simply vanish without explanation. Two-year-olds don’t ordinarily climb through ditches and over obstacles to the ocean in the pitch black night. Tobago is not prepared to normalize the disappearance of children.
This matter must be treated with the highest level of urgency, seriousness and investigative intensity.
I therefore call on the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Homicide Bureau, the Child Protection Unit and every relevant national agency to leave no stone unturned in this investigation. Every lead must be pursued. Every inconsistency must be examined. Every person with information must cooperate fully with the authorities.
If there has been negligence, it must be exposed.
If there has been wrongdoing, it must be prosecuted.
And if there are persons withholding information, they must understand that silence in a matter involving a child is unacceptable.
This tragedy must also force us as a society to reflect on our collective duty of care to children. Too often, after incidents like these, we move on too quickly. We cannot. The protection of children is not optional. It is a sacred responsibility.
Today, Tobago stands with Angelo.
We stand with the people of Goodwood who have cried out for justice.
We stand with every citizen demanding truth.
And we stand with the belief that this child matters.
A nation is judged by how it protects its most vulnerable. There can be no peace, no comfort and no closure until answers are found.
As investigations continue into the disappearance of baby Angelo today (Sunday 17th May, 2026), Police have begun searching the Studley Park dump in Tobago, following information received that the child’s body may have been placed there.

UPDATE (09/09/26): CCTV footage has emerged of the altercation on 1st January, 2026 at the car park of a supermarket in Princes Town, which resulted in the death of Dr. Gerard Roopnarine several months later. A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. According to reports, Rahaman was driving a white Nissan AD wagon, heading West along the Western Main Road with a passenger later identified as 21-year-old Faraaz Hosein of Hosein Drive, St. Lucien Road, Diego Martin. However, upon reaching the vicinity of Peake Trading Limited, Rahaman reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which entered the compound and struck a utility pole and part of the fencing, around 10:30 PM. The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Chunilal Bandoo of Mohammed Lane, Mc Inroy Street, Curepe. He was the father of a daughter, who resides in the United States. According to reports, Bandoo was last seen near his home on Saturday (5th September, 2026) while liming with friends for several hours. However, he never returned home afterwards. A man wanted for extortion is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Riyad Sean Ali of Orangefield Settlement, Carapichaima. His elderly mother and brother were reportedly detained and firearms seized at the scene. The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026). While unconfirmed, the deceased is believed to be Marcia Thomas Singh, who residents said appeared to be in her 60s. She had been apparently residing in the security booth for some time.
