Following the disappearance of 2-year-old Angelo Tobias of Goodwood, Tobago, on Monday 11th May, 2026, which has gripped the nation as meticulous searches continue, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Farley Chavez Augustine, unleashed a scathing statement on social media, stating in part, that, “We have a right to be damn vex about how this is unfolding and the nancy stories that are being peddled.”
In a Facebook post this afternoon (Sunday 17th May, 2026), Augustine said the following:

Following my public comments on Thursday [14th May, 2026], I have been struggling to be diplomatic about what is transpiring in the full view of the nation. All of last night this child is on my mind.
Tobago is hurting.
The disappearance of two-year-old Angelo Tobias-Plaza of Goodwood has shaken this island to its core. Every mother, every father, every grandparent and every decent citizen feels the weight of this tragedy. A child is missing. A baby. And Tobago refuses to accept silence, excuses or indifference!
For days now, members of the Protective Services, emergency responders, volunteers, villagers, fishermen, hunters and ordinary citizens have searched land and sea in the hope of finding little Angelo. We thank every single person who has stood in solidarity with this child and his family during this painful period.
But let me say this clearly.
TOO MANY QUESTIONS REMAIN UNANSWERED!
The public outrage and heartbreak now being expressed across Tobago and Trinidad are JUSTIFIED. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO BE DAMN VEX ABOUT HOW THIS IS UNFOLDING AND THE NANCY STORIES THAT ARE BEING PEDDLED.
The people are demanding accountability because something about this situation does not sit right with the national conscience. A two-year-old child does not simply vanish without explanation. Two-year-olds don’t ordinarily climb through ditches and over obstacles to the ocean in the pitch black night. Tobago is not prepared to normalize the disappearance of children.
This matter must be treated with the highest level of urgency, seriousness and investigative intensity.
I therefore call on the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Homicide Bureau, the Child Protection Unit and every relevant national agency to leave no stone unturned in this investigation. Every lead must be pursued. Every inconsistency must be examined. Every person with information must cooperate fully with the authorities.
If there has been negligence, it must be exposed.
If there has been wrongdoing, it must be prosecuted.
And if there are persons withholding information, they must understand that silence in a matter involving a child is unacceptable.
This tragedy must also force us as a society to reflect on our collective duty of care to children. Too often, after incidents like these, we move on too quickly. We cannot. The protection of children is not optional. It is a sacred responsibility.
Today, Tobago stands with Angelo.
We stand with the people of Goodwood who have cried out for justice.
We stand with every citizen demanding truth.
And we stand with the belief that this child matters.
A nation is judged by how it protects its most vulnerable. There can be no peace, no comfort and no closure until answers are found.
As investigations continue into the disappearance of baby Angelo today (Sunday 17th May, 2026), Police have begun searching the Studley Park dump in Tobago, following information received that the child’s body may have been placed there.
A woman has been charged with the murder of Chaguanas businessman Gregory Reece , who was stabbed to death at her apartment in Woodford Gardens on Sunday 28th June, 2026. She has been identified as 25-year-old Aaliyah Naipal of corner of Oak Avenue and Coconut Drive, Woodford Gardens. Naipal, who was previously detained following the fatal stabbing incident, appeared before a High Court Master on Monday (6th July, 2026). According to reports, 46-year-old Reece arrived at the apartment in a Toyota SUV shortly before an altercation broke out inside the residence. During the confrontation, he sustained a stab wound. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. However, upon arrival, Reece showed no signs of life. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced him dead. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a man and a woman were arrested and a firearm recovered, following a co-ordinated Police response to an armed robbery at a mini-mart in Chaguanas this afternoon (Friday 17th July, 2026). At approximately 12:55 PM, Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area North) responded to a report of a robbery with aggravation at a mini-mart, located along La Clave Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas. The TTPS said preliminary enquiries revealed that two (2) suspects arrived at the business establishment in a silver Toyota Aqua. UPDATE (06/07/26): Shahnaaz Ali has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Police have since launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping as enquiries continue. A woman who was reported missing after failing to return home from work on Friday (3rd July, 2026) has been safely located and taken for medical treatment. She has been identified as 31-year-old Shahnaaz Ali of #28 Benjamin Street, Diego Martin. Shahnaaz Ali, the 31-year-old woman who was found in Mayaro the day after she failed to return home from work in Port-of-Spain , has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Ali was found wandering along Gran Lagoon Beach, Mayaro, around 7:00 AM on Saturday (4th July, 2026), after reportedly escaping from her captors. UPDATE (12/07/26): Police have launched a manhunt for the 23-year-old boyfriend of Kelimar Del Jesus Duran Morillo, following her fatal stabbing early Saturday morning. The incident unfolded just hours after Morillo and her on-and-off boyfriend of three (3) years attended his birthday celebration at his parents’ home in Endeavour, Chaguanas. Police believe Morillo left the gathering at around 1:50 AM on Saturday morning to return to her apartment because she was scheduled to work later that morning. A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road this morning (Saturday 4th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Jason Ramnanan of Caparo. According to reports, Ramnanan was driving a white panel van when it collided with a green and yellow waste disposal truck (TCJ 1195) near the Santa Phillipa Bridge along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road, around 9:00 AM. UPDATE (29/07/26): The Government of Guyana has confirmed that a survivor of the MV Barima disaster has died, as an extensive search-and-recovery operation involving three (3) aircraft and fifteen (15) vessels continues across the country’s Northwestern waters — stretching West to Waini Point and East to Adventure. UPDATE (16/07/26): Joycelyn Henry-Davis, 71, the mother of murdered Nyron Kyle Davis, said her son was an innocent victim who was caught in the crossfire when gunmen opened fire on Saturday night. Speaking with Crime Watch Host, Ian Alleyne, Henry-Davis described her son as a hardworking plumber who loved football and basketball. She said he had gone out to watch a World Cup football match when tragedy struck.
