Woman Found Shot To Death Inside Black Van In Port-of-Spain — Police Investigating

UPDATE: Residents of St. Joseph Road Plannings said they several loud explosions around 9:00 PM on Sunday night (9th August, 2026), but did not investigate. This suggests the victim may have been killed many hours before her body was discovered.

A woman is dead following a shooting incident inside her vehicle in Port-of-Spain this morning (Monday 10th August, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Jamelia Lewis, who once resided at Foster Road, East Dry River, Port-of-Spain. However, she was said to be recently homeless.

According to reports, shortly after 7:00 AM, Officers of the Besson Street Police Station were alerted to the presence of an unresponsive woman inside a vehicle along Achong Street, near the John John intersection, and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Lewis slumped inside a black Isuzu D-Max, with multiple gunshot wounds about the body. She was reportedly discovered semi-nude inside the vehicle, stretched across the passenger seat, towards the driver’s seat. The Isuzu, which did not bear any licence plates, was parked on a grassy vacant lot near the John John Towers. The passenger-side glass was shattered.

Officers said Lewis, who was known to them for selling small quantities of narcotics, did not have a fixed place of abode. She would often park in the area and sleep in the van at night. They also said that she had been “in and out” of prison on several occasions for selling narcotics, with her most recent incarceration occurring just last week.

Crime scene investigators recovered four (4) spent 9mm shell casings.

Police have not yet established a motive for her brutal killing.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding this fatal shooting.

A man was arrested and a vehicle recovered following a report of robbery with violence in Caroni on Monday afternoon (10th August, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 2:05 PM, the victim, a 53-year-old proprietor, was in her husband’s vehicle at the side of the roadway in front of her home, located along Caroni South Bank Road, Caroni, when two (2) men alighted from a red Hyundai vehicle. Former Payroll Officer Facing 61 Fraud Charges For Allegedly Diverting Over $166,000 To Her Bank Account

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a former employee at a security consulting company has been charged with more than sixty (60) offences arising from an alleged case of fraud. In a Media Release today (Friday 14th August, 2026), the TTPS said the suspect, identified as Brenda Omadath, was employed as a Payroll Officer at the company. During a financial audit, it was revealed that during the period Thursday 9th January, 2025 to Tuesday 10th March, 2026, Omadath, while employed at the company, allegedly falsified payment sheets to deceive her employers and subsequently transferred sums totalling $166,461.05 to her account at a local financial institution. Man Dies In Head-On Collision Along Rivulet Road, Couva; Another Driver Hospitalized

A man is dead and another injured following a head-on collision along Rivulet Road in Couva on Friday night (31st July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Avinash, also known as “Chucky Avi,” of Dow Village. According to reports, a white Toyota Hilux (TDW 4431) was travelling East along Rivulet Road, when a grey Nissan Frontier (TCK 8116), heading West, allegedly crossed over into the opposite lane, resulting in a violent head-on collision with the Hilux, around 9:30 PM. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Both drivers sustained injuries and were conveyed to the Couva Health Facility for emergency medical treatment. However, Avinash subsequently succumbed to his injuries. UPDATE (10/08/26): In its first official statement , the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said it has been monitoring an active Tropical Wave in the Central Tropical Atlantic, which is expected to affect the Southern Windward Islands from Thursday (13th August, 2026) of this week. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami said it is now following the potential development of two (2) systems in the Tropical Atlantic during the upcoming week. A Chaguanas man and his 18-year-old girlfriend have appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of 25-year-old Shayanna Ruiz , which occurred on 29th July, 2026, in the Central Division. UPDATE (17/08/26): The second deceased man has been identified as Clint Jordan. Relatives of both Nigel Mohammed and Clint Jordan have disputed several aspects of what transpired at the property. They allege that Police Officers removed several Wi-Fi security cameras at the house and that neither man shot at the Police. One relative said a family member received a notification from one of the cameras and saw what appeared to be Police Officers dismantling it. Man Dies At Hospital Following Violent Confrontation In Enterprise, Chaguanas; 3 Suspects Identified

A man is dead following an early-morning violent confrontation in Enterprise, Chaguanas, which occurred on Tuesday 4th August, 2026. The deceased has been identified as Dale Edson George, also known as “Doggie,” of Chrissie Terrace, Enterprise. He died at Hospital days after the incident.
