Today: Cloudy, Windy, 30% - 40% Chance For Heavy Showers — Moderate Saharan Dust; 31°C Max

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect partly cloudy, breezy to windy conditions today (Friday 15th May, 2026), with moderate Saharan dust. Conditions will become cloudy at times during the afternoon, with light to moderate showers in some areas and a medium (30% to 40%) chance for a heavy shower or isolated thunderstorm to develop.  Strong gusty winds are likely, especially near showers. A High Wind Alert (Yellow Level) is in effect until 2:00 PM on Sunday (17th May, 2026). The Met Office notes that Saharan dust concentration is expected to be moderate. Sensitive persons are advised to take the necessary precautions. The forecast maximum temperature today will be 31°C at both Piarco in Trinidad and Crown Point in Tobago.  Seas are moderate with waves 2.5m to 2.8m in open waters and 1m and choppy in sheltered areas.  Please continue to pay attention to the latest forecasts, alerts, and information issued by the TTMS.

High Wind Alert In Effect Until Sunday Afternoon

UPDATE (17/05/26): The Met Office has extended its High Wind Alert (Yellow Level) until 12:00 AM on Tuesday (19th May, 2026). Breezy to windy conditions are expected to continue intermittently over the period with accompanying gusts in excess of 55 Km/h. Conditions will likely be more pronounced in the vicinity of showers, along Eastern areas and along elevated terrain. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued a High Wind Alert (Yellow Level) for a total of fifty-two (52) hours. The Alert began at 10:00 AM this morning (Friday 15th May, 2026) and will remain in effect until 2:00 PM on Sunday (17th May, 2026) for Trinidad and Tobago and surrounding waters. According to the Met Office, current breezy to windy conditions are expected to intensify over the next twenty-four (24) to thirty-six (36) hours, with a high (70%) potential for gusts exceeding 55 Km/h, especially in the vicinity of showers. T&TEC: NO Electricity On Friday In Parts of Diego Martin And Maracas St. Joseph

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Diego Martin and Maracas St. Joseph on Friday (15th May, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.   According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Diego Martin and Maracas St. Joseph are as follows:  DIEGO MARTIN Along Pear Parkway and all associated side streets. MARACAS ST. JOSEPH From LP #77 off Maracas Royal, including Maracas Garden, Eustace Bernard Boulevard, Isaac McLeod Drive, Lennox Phillip Drive, Plumrose Court and all associated side streets. From LP #77 on Caurita Road, including La Sambadora Road, Bancal Road and all associated side streets. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

Massive Search For Missing 2-Year-Old Angelo Tobias Plaza Continues In Tobago

UPDATE 3:  The biological father of missing Angelo, 22-year-old Antonio Plaza, travelled to Tobago today (Friday 15th May, 2026) with his mother, Meena Plaza, seeking answers as to the whereabouts of little Angelo. Accompanied by Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne, they went directly to Cambridge Trace, Goodwood, the same area where Angelo was last seen on Monday night (11th May, 2026), hoping to speak with the child’s mother and get answers surrounding the baffling case. However, upon arriving, they were reportedly prevented from entering the immediate area as Police maintained a cordon around the property, while crime scene investigators continued processing the scene. BODY of Missing 37-Year-Old Man Found In Ravine In Longdenville — With Feet Bound

The body of a man was found in a ravine in Longdenville, Chaguanas, on Wednesday morning (13th May, 2026). The deceased is believed to be 37-year-old Jevon Stewart of Pecan Crescent, Cashew Gardens. He was last seen at his home around 9:00 PM on 4th May, 2026, and subsequently reported missing. According to reports, Officers attached to the Longdenville Police Post received a report around 11:15 AM on Wednesday, from a resident who discovered the body behind his garden, in a ravine off Palmiste Gravel Road, Caparo Valley Brasso Road, Longdenville. Officers, accompanied by the informant, travelled approximately 1.5 kilometres along a gravel track off the Caparo Valley Brasso Road, where they came upon the partially decomposed body of an African male lying inside a ravine. Traffic Disruption: Desilting Works Along Couva Main Road

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure is advising the public of a temporary traffic disruption along the Couva Main Road, in the vicinity of Scotia Bank, heading West to the Inshan Ali Promenade and ending near Railway Road. This disruption has become necessary to facilitate desilting works for flooding alleviation in this area. These works are scheduled to take place from 8:00 PM on Saturday (16th May, 2026) to 4:00 AM on Sunday (17th May, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect sunny, hazy and breezy conditions today (Thursday 14th May, 2026), despite occasional cloudy spells with a few light or moderate showers occurring, mainly during the afternoon. Tonight will be fair but hazy, with isolated showers likely after Midnight.  Winds may gust at times, particularly near showers.  The Met Office notes that a moderate concentration of Saharan dust is present in the atmosphere. Persons who are sensitive to this change in air quality are advised to take the necessary precautions. FOUR (4) To Be Charged With Murders of Kenneth Gill And Bernard Mahabir

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), four (4) persons are expected to be charged with the murders of Kenneth Gill and Bernard Mahabir, whose burnt bodies were discovered in the trunk of a motor vehicle in the Valencia district, on Monday 27th April, 2026. The accused are a 57-year-old woman of El Socorro, a 45-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man and a 41-year-old man, all of Valencia. The charges are to be laid following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard SC, on Monday (11th May, 2026). Gill, 67, of Trincity and Mahabir, 71, of Tunapuna, were reported missing on Monday 27th April, 2026 at the Arouca Police Station. Enquiries revealed they were last seen on Sunday 26th April, 2026, at a bar in the Lopinot district. Gill’s bank card was subsequently used to make cash withdrawals from ATMs in the Arima and Sangre Grande districts the following day. PTSC Responds To Bus Fire Incident Along Priority Bus Route — Launches Investigation

The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) is confirming that one of its buses caught fire at approximately 1:15 PM this afternoon (Wednesday 13th May, 2026) along the Priority Bus Route (PBR), in the vicinity of the Mount Lambert traffic lights. The Corporation notes that at the time of the incident, the bus was not in service and there were no passengers onboard. Emergency response personnel from both the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service (TTFS) and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) were contacted and responded to the scene. The fire was successfully brought under control. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the PTSC, who said it will “continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.” PTSC added that it “remains committed to the safety of its employees, passengers and the general public.” More on this as it becomes available.
