PTSC Responds To Bus Fire Incident Along Priority Bus Route — Launches Investigation

The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) is confirming that one of its buses caught fire at approximately 1:15 PM this afternoon (Wednesday 13th May, 2026) along the Priority Bus Route (PBR), in the vicinity of the Mount Lambert traffic lights.

The Corporation notes that at the time of the incident, the bus was not in service and there were no passengers onboard.

Emergency response personnel from both the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service (TTFS) and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) were contacted and responded to the scene. The fire was successfully brought under control.



The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the PTSC, who said it will “continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

PTSC added that it “remains committed to the safety of its employees, passengers and the general public.”

UPDATE 2:  The TTPS confirmed today (Tuesday 19th May, 2026) that seven (7) persons — three (3) females and four (4) males — have been detained as investigations continue into the disappearance of 2-year-old Angelo Tobias. TTPS Issues Statement About Missing 2-Year-Old Angelo Tobias of Goodwood, Tobago

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is confirming that upon receipt of a report regarding the disappearance of 2-year-old Angelo Tobias of Goodwood, Tobago , on Monday 11th May, 2026, Officers immediately initiated a co-ordinated and comprehensive response. In a Media Release this morning (Sunday 17th May, 2026), the TTPS said, “A thorough search operation was promptly undertaken in and around the vicinity of the child’s residence, involving multiple agencies. This included extensive searches of surrounding areas as well as nearby coastal waters, where the child was last reportedly seen. UPDATE (18/05/26): Investigators believe Daniel Mclean may have fallen from a coconut tree, hit his head and rolled into the nearby sea, as his body was reportedly found with head wounds.
