T&T 5-Day Weather Outlook — From Tuesday Through Saturday

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), high pressure is expected to remain across the Lesser Antilles for this outlook period. An area of low pressure has formed to the Northeast of the Lesser Antilles. This area is mostly extra-tropical in nature and is expected to move further away Northward. As a result of this feature, for most of this outlook period, an initial induced perturbation, and subsequently, a veering of the wind flow across the Lesser Antilles, to come from a generally Southeasterly direction, is to be expected. Shear-line development and low-level convergence are likely to occur between the Northern Windward Islands and with a Northward oscillation towards the Northern Leeward Islands as the outlook period progresses.

The seas in the open waters to the near-East and Northeast of Trinidad and Tobago are expected to be between 1.5m to 2m during this outlook period. As this outlook period progresses, the seas are showing a tendency to increase closer to 2m and above. Persons are advised to be on the lookout for occasional long period swells, which can cause agitations to near-shore conditions. All marine interests are advised to exercise caution.

The near-surface to the mid-level wind is expected to remain normal across the Leeward Islands for this outlook period. From Wednesday (19th March, 2025), the wind in the near-surface to the mid-level across Trinidad and Tobago and the Windward Islands is expected to increase to mostly moderate and, at times, strong. Breezy to at times windy conditions are likely to develop, especially over elevated terrain or in the vicinity of any shower that might occur.

The Met Office notes that moderate to high concentrations of Saharan dust are present in the atmosphere at this time. Between the late afternoon on Tuesday (18th March, 2025) and the late night on Wednesday (19th March, 2025), a relative reduction is likely, to mostly moderate concentrations. From the very early morning of Thursday (20th March, 2025), the Saharan dust concentration is expected to again show an increase to moderate to high concentration. From the early hours of Saturday (22nd March, 2025), a tendency towards mild to moderate concentration is likely.

For this outlook period, mostly fair conditions are likely, with brief showers over varying areas for most of the island chain. Due to a shear-line development and varying lines of surface convergence, there is expected to be a few light to moderate showers across the Northern Windward and the Leeward Islands, with a chance for an isolated heavy shower to develop, especially near hilly areas. Trinidad and Tobago and the Southern Windward Islands will be mostly fair, sunny, hazy, and becoming breezy to windy at times. A brief light or moderate shower is likely due to local dynamics and topographies, mainly during the late mornings and early afternoons and near hilly areas.
