41-Year-Old Komal Maharaj Mysteriously Disappears, Again — Massive Search Underway

UPDATE (29/09/25): Reports state that Maharaj was found alive at the Piarco Touch Down Hotel in St. Helena this evening (Monday 29th September, 2025). No further details are available at this time.

Another massive search has been launched for 41-year-old Komal Maharaj of Felicity, Chaguanas, who was last seen on Friday afternoon (26th September, 2025). Maharaj, who also went missing last year, is described as being of East Indian descent, fair-skinned, slim-built, 184 cm tall, weighing approximately 175 lbs, with long hair and clean-shaven.

According to reports, Maharaj, a school teacher and father of two (2) girls, was last seen leaving his home and walking toward the nearby savannah, around 1:31 PM on Friday afternoon. CCTV footage captured him wearing long blue jeans, a black long-sleeve sweater with a zipper, and sunglasses.

His wife told Police that she last spoke to him that Friday morning before she left for work. Maharaj, who was scheduled to teach music at the Aranguez Hindu School between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, later sent her a WhatsApp message at 1:07 PM, asking about lunch. However, he never replied to her response. Calls to his phone have subsequently gone straight to voicemail.

A witness reported seeing Maharaj sitting on a bench at the savannah, speaking on his phone and appearing “worried.” Shortly afterward, he entered a silver Nissan Wingroad (PDM 6995), with a black bonnet, visible damage to the left tailgate, and a “FOR SALE” sticker on the windshield. The vehicle then drove off.

In July 2024, 40-year-old Maharaj went missing for approximately two (2) weeks, sparking a large-scale search effort and concern from the public. At the time, his disappearance was treated by Police as a possible kidnapping.

Maharaj was last seen at Price Plaza, Chaguanas on 19th July, 2024 (which also happened to be a Friday afternoon), where he was believed to have withdrawn cash from the Scotiabank ATM there, before disappearing. His unexplained absence last year caused significant distress to his family, who noted that he was always diligent in keeping his wife updated about his whereabouts.

It was later reported that he was held captive in Venezuela and safely returned to the country by boat.

Investigations are continuing into his latest disappearance by Officers of the Chaguanas Police Station, with W/Sgt. Gomez spearheading the case.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information on the silver Nissan Wingroad or Maharaj’s whereabouts to come forward immediately.
