First Citizens Bank Launches Google Pay In Trinidad And Tobago

First Citizens Bank (FCB) has officially introduced Google Pay to Trinidad and Tobago, marking the first-ever launch of the service in the country. In a Media Release on Wednesday (3rd December, 2025), FCB said, “This milestone reinforces First Citizens’ position as a leader in digital banking and innovation, delivering faster, safer, and more convenient payment experiences for customers and merchants.”

With this launch, First Citizens’ credit card holders can now make payments directly from their Android phones or smart devices, transforming everyday transactions with a simple tap.

“As a forward-thinking financial institution, First Citizens is proud to deliver Google Pay to Trinidad and Tobago, elevating the way our customers pay through smarter, safer, and frictionless digital experiences,” said Jason Julien, Group CEO, First Citizens. “This launch reaffirms our commitment to advancing the nation’s digital transformation and delivering world-class banking experiences that seamlessly align with our customers evolving lifestyles.”

Google Pay allows users to create a digital wallet and link their First Citizens’ credit or prepaid cards to their mobile devices, enabling secure contactless payments both in-store and online. FCB notes that this solution “provides enhanced speed, convenience, and advanced security features — perfectly suited to the expectations of today’s tech-savvy, on-the-go customers.”

Customers are encouraged to embrace this new, more convenient way to pay using their phones as their new credit cards. By simply tapping to pay with Google Pay, they can enjoy a faster, easier, and seamless transaction experience.

Merchants across Trinidad and Tobago can now accept Google Pay transactions, benefiting from faster checkout times, reduced fraud risk, and a modern, digital-first customer experience.

The adoption of this technology positions retailers and service providers to stay ahead of changing consumer behaviour while strengthening their competitiveness in an increasingly digital marketplace.

25-Year-Old Woman Charged With Murder of Chaguanas Businessman Gregory Reece

A woman has been charged with the murder of   Chaguanas businessman Gregory Reece , who was stabbed to death at her apartment in Woodford Gardens on Sunday 28th June, 2026. She has been identified as 25-year-old Aaliyah Naipal of corner of Oak Avenue and Coconut Drive, Woodford Gardens. Naipal, who was previously detained following the fatal stabbing incident, appeared before a High Court Master on Monday (6th July, 2026). According to reports, 46-year-old Reece arrived at the apartment in a Toyota SUV shortly before an altercation broke out inside the residence. During the confrontation, he sustained a stab wound. TWO (2) Suspects Arrested Following Armed Robbery At Chaguanas Mini-Mart

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a man and a woman were arrested and a firearm recovered, following a co-ordinated Police response to an armed robbery at a mini-mart in Chaguanas this afternoon (Friday 17th July, 2026). At approximately 12:55 PM, Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area North) responded to a report of a robbery with aggravation at a mini-mart, located along La Clave Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas. The TTPS said preliminary enquiries revealed that two (2) suspects arrived at the business establishment in a silver Toyota Aqua. The driver remained in the vehicle while the other suspect, armed with a firearm, entered the mini-mart, announced a robbery, and discharged two (2) shots before stealing a quantity of cash from the proprietor. UPDATE (06/07/26): Shahnaaz Ali has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Police have since launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping as enquiries continue. Shahnaaz Ali, the 31-year-old woman who was found in Mayaro the day after she failed to return home from work in Port-of-Spain , has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Venezuelan Woman Stabbed To Death By Boyfriend During Confrontation At Chaguanas Home

UPDATE (12/07/26): Police have launched a manhunt for the 23-year-old boyfriend of Kelimar Del Jesus Duran Morillo, following her fatal stabbing early Saturday morning. The incident unfolded just hours after Morillo and her on-and-off boyfriend of three (3) years attended his birthday celebration at his parents’ home in Endeavour, Chaguanas. Police believe Morillo left the gathering at around 1:50 AM on Saturday morning to return to her apartment because she was scheduled to work later that morning. 42-Year-Old Man Killed When Panel Van Crashes Into Truck Along Caparo Valley Brasso Road

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road this morning (Saturday 4th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Jason Ramnanan of Caparo. According to reports, Ramnanan was driving a white panel van when it collided with a green and yellow waste disposal truck (TCJ 1195) near the Santa Phillipa Bridge along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road, around 9:00 AM.
