Hollywood Icon Chuck Norris Dead At 86
Legendary martial artist and actor, Chuck Norris, died on Thursday morning (19th March, 2026) in Hawaii at the age of eighty-six (86), according to his family. Norris is best remembered for his martial arts and action movie roles in the 1980s, and for portraying Texas Ranger Cordell Walker in the CBS TV show “Walker, Texas Ranger” in the 1990s.
TMZ was first to report that the actor was hospitalized either Wednesday (18th March, 2026) or Thursday, and it seemed sudden, because a source who had spoken with Norris on Wednesday told the media outlet that he had been working out and was in an upbeat, jovial mood.
A statement issued by his family said, “It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning [Thursday]. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace. To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family. He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.”
The Norris family added, “While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him. The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him, and our family is truly thankful for it. To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends. We know many of you had heard about his recent hospitalization, and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support you sent his way. As we grieve this loss, we kindly ask for privacy for our family during this time. Thank you for loving him with us.”
Norris was largely out of acting over the past few decades, except for a few minor roles in movies like “The Expendables 2” in 2012. Regardless, he maintained relevance on social media where fans still share tons of memes about his legendary toughness.
He had a black belt in several martial arts and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989. He became an actual Texas Ranger in 2010.
Norris and Bruce Lee famously had a close relationship for years, training together in the mid '60s. They both starred in the 1972 film “The Way of the Dragon.”
Born in Oklahoma in 1940, Norris served in the U.S. Air Force between 1958 and 1962. He married twice in his life and had five (5) children, including actor Mike Norris and NASCAR driver Eric Norris.
