45-Year-Old Businessman Found Butchered To Death Inside Arima Home — Police Investigating

A businessman is dead following a brutal stabbing/chopping incident and robbery at his residence in Arima on Friday night (19th June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Sterling Francois of #10C Scallion Circular, Trestrail Development, located behind the Clever Heights Development in Arima. His body was found several hours later.

Francois owned and operated several businesses, including Kyva General Contractors Limited, Langley’s, an auto rental company, and other small enterprises.

Officers assigned to the Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID) responded to a report of a man found dead at the residence in Arima, around 10:00 AM on Saturday (20th June, 2026). Upon arrival, Officers met with an informant and carried out checks inside the house.

Investigators observed apparent blood-stained footprints throughout the living room and dining room areas, with blood splatter leading towards the staircase. At the top of the stairs, Francois was found lying face-down on his stomach, naked and covered in blood — with multiple injuries about the body, including stab and chop wounds.

A cutlass with apparent blood stains was recovered at the scene. Police also recovered a plastic cup they believe the suspect drank from.

According to reports, a relative became concerned after several calls to Francois’ cellular phone went unanswered. The person then visited his home to check on him and found the front door closed but unlocked. Upon entering the house, the relative observed blood-stained footprints and blood splatter before discovering Francois’ body and contacting the Police.

Further enquiries revealed that Francois left his home around 8:05 PM on Friday night, driving his black Chevy Colorado pickup. At around 8:40 PM, he returned home with a male passenger who entered the house with him.

Police said shortly after Midnight, around 12:01 AM on Saturday, the male was seen leaving Francois’ home, wearing dark clothing and carrying a knapsack. The man reportedly boarded a brown 4x4 pickup with an unknown registration and travelled West along Scallion Circular before heading in an unknown direction.

Following the discovery of Francois’ body, relatives checked the house and reported that several valuable items were missing, including his iPhone, laptop, PlayStation and wallet.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding this murder.

TWO (2) Suspects Arrested Following Armed Robbery At Chaguanas Mini-Mart

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a man and a woman were arrested and a firearm recovered, following a co-ordinated Police response to an armed robbery at a mini-mart in Chaguanas this afternoon (Friday 17th July, 2026). At approximately 12:55 PM, Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area North) responded to a report of a robbery with aggravation at a mini-mart, located along La Clave Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas. Venezuelan Woman Stabbed To Death By Boyfriend During Confrontation At Chaguanas Home

UPDATE (12/07/26): Police have launched a manhunt for the 23-year-old boyfriend of Kelimar Del Jesus Duran Morillo, following her fatal stabbing early Saturday morning. The incident unfolded just hours after Morillo and her on-and-off boyfriend of three (3) years attended his birthday celebration at his parents’ home in Endeavour, Chaguanas. 42-Year-Old Man Killed When Panel Van Crashes Into Truck Along Caparo Valley Brasso Road

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road this morning (Saturday 4th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Jason Ramnanan of Caparo. According to reports, Ramnanan was driving a white panel van when it collided with a green and yellow waste disposal truck (TCJ 1195) near the Santa Phillipa Bridge along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road, around 9:00 AM.
