EDITOR’S NOTE: The body of this article has been updated with new details.
A missing man was found dead at his home in Siparia on Friday afternoon (17th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as former cyclist, 62-year-old Dennis Archargee of Quarry Road, Siparia, who was well known in the cycling community.
According to reports, relatives last spoke with Archargee around 12:00 PM on Sunday 12th July, 2026, when he visited a family member’s home. He was reported missing on Tuesday (14th July, 2026) after several attempts to reach him were unsuccessful.
A relative went to check on Archargee at his home around 10:00 AM on Friday (17th July, 2026), after concerns grew over his whereabouts. The front door was found secured with a padlock, prompting the relative to force entry into the house. Once inside, the home was discovered in disarray.
Police were notified and Archargee’s body was subsequently discovered by Officers inside an outhouse at the back of his home, around 12:00 PM, under what relatives believe are suspicious circumstances. His head and upper body were stuffed inside the pit of the outhouse, and his back exposed. He was clothed only in blue three-quarter pants.
A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Archargee dead and ordered his body removed for a post-mortem examination to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre in St. James.
Archargee’s blue Nissan B14 motor car was missing from the property, as well as several other items, including a gas cylinder, generator and brush cutter. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Friday evening along a track off Skinner Trace, Quarry Trace, Siparia, where it was processed by crime scene investigators before being taken to the Siparia Police Station for further forensic examination.
Members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), led by Captain Vallence Rambharat, were on their way to assist in the search for Archargee on Friday when they were alerted that Police had already located his body.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the former cyclist's death.
