Here’s The 5-Day Weather Outlook For T&T — From Saturday Through Wednesday

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), a strong, well-formed, high pressure cell, situated to the East of the subtropical North Atlantic, continues to provide the energy over a long and generally straight fetch across the Tropical Atlantic to generate steady, moderate, near-surface to mid-level winds. The dissipating tail-end of a frontal system to the North of the Lesser Antilles is likely to contribute a weak shear-line, varying low-level convergence, and a weak perturbation on Saturday night (1st February, 2025) into Sunday morning, mainly over the Leeward Islands.

For this outlook period, the seas in the open waters to the near-East and Northeast of Trinidad and Tobago are expected to be mostly moderate, becoming rough at times as this outlook period progresses. Persons are advised to continue to monitor the sea conditions and always take precautions in marine activities.

The near-surface to mid-level winds are expected to continue to be mostly moderate during this outlook period. This is likely to produce generally breezy, sometimes windy conditions, and at times could become gusty, especially in elevated areas or in the vicinity of any shower that might occur.

A moderate concentration of Saharan dust is in the atmosphere today (Friday 31st January, 2025), with fluctuations to high concentrations over the next two (2) days, until Sunday (2nd February, 2025), when there is likely to be a brief respite to mild to moderate concentrations. The concentration is likely to return to mostly moderate on Monday (3rd February, 2025), showing a gradual reduction again to mild to moderate towards the end of this outlook period.

For most of this outlook period, there is likely to be generally fair conditions with partly cloudy interruptions at times, producing brief showers over varying areas across the Lesser Antilles. Between Saturday evening (1st February, 2025) and Monday afternoon (3rd February, 2025), there is likely to be an increase in moisture advection and convergence across the Leeward and Northern Windward islands, as a result of a passing perturbation. From Sunday night (2nd February, 2025) into Monday morning (3rd February, 2025), some of this increased moisture is expected to drift close to, or over Tobago and Northeast Trinidad, giving a medium to high chance for the development of isolated heavy showers or an isolated thunderstorm, favoring mostly near-Eastern offshore areas.

Saturday (1st February, 2025)
  • For Trinidad and Tobago and the Lesser Antilles, mostly fair and breezy conditions with patches of moisture advection and varying areas of surface convergence are likely to produce a few brief showers. There is the chance for a moderate shower to develop, especially near hilly areas or during the afternoon.

Sunday (2nd February, 2025)

Monday (3rd February, 2025)
  • From overnight and into the pre-dawn hours, increased moisture convergence is expected to drift close to, or over Tobago, Northeast Trinidad, and over the Windward Islands, giving a medium to high chance for the development of isolated heavy showers or isolated thunderstorms. For Trinidad and Tobago, the heavy shower or isolated thunderstorm is expected to favor mostly near-Eastern offshore areas. Daytime conditions are expected to be mostly fair and breezy, with a few brief showers and the chance for a moderate shower, favoring hilly areas or during the afternoon.
