The Associated Press (AP) said investigators have reviewed video of three (3) men and a woman “placing explosives in connection with the deadly car attack in New Orleans’s French Quarter. The FBI said it does not believe the driver acted alone.”
Investigators said they found the flag, weapons and a potential explosive device inside the rented Ford pickup and were working to learn more about the driver’s potential ties to terrorist organizations. The bureau said it was running down leads to identify any possible associates of Jabbar.
According to reports, the driver drove around barricades during the horrific attack and alighted from his vehicle with an assault rifle when confronted by Police. He fired at the Officers, who shot back, killing him. The Officers who were shot are said to be in stable condition.
“He was hell bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did,” said New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick during a Press Conference this morning (Wednesday 1st January, 2025). “This man was trying to run over as many people as he possibly could,” Kirkpatrick said.
The White House said President Biden had been briefed and offered New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell full federal support. “My heart goes out to the victims and their families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday,” Biden said. “There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation’s communities.”
The injured people were conveyed to at least five (5) different Hospitals.
Investigations are continuing.
