TEN (10) Held As Officers Seize Firearm, Ammunition, Cannabis During SOE Operations
Ten (10) persons were arrested for varying offences and quantities of firearms, ammunition and drugs seized during several ongoing State of Emergency Operations across the country.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), in the Western Division, Officers conducted an exercise between 6:00 PM on Thursday (2nd January, 2025) and 1:00 AM on Friday (3rd January, 2025) in the Maraval district, that included Task Force Officers and Detectives of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).During the exercise, the Officers proceeded to a bar at Morne Coco Road, where they conducted a search which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cannabis.
The Officers next proceeded to an area in the vicinity of the WASA Water Treatment Facility, where they found a black plastic bag containing twelve (12) rounds of ammunition.
Meanwhile, in the Arima district, an intelligence-led operation was conducted between 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM on Thursday (2nd January, 2025). During the exercise, Officers of the Arima Intelligence/Operations Team, proceeded to Samaroo Village, where they conducted a search of a house.
The search resulted in the discovery of a Glock pistol, loaded with a magazine containing thirteen (13) rounds of ammunition.
Two (2) minors, ages seventeen (17) and sixteen (16), who were in the house at the time of the search, were arrested.
During the exercise, Officers arrested three (3) persons on outstanding warrants.
In the Sangre Grande and Manzanilla districts, Task Force and CID Officers searched the homes of five (5) suspects, which resulted in the discovery of a quantity of cannabis and the arrest of a suspect.
In the Rio Claro district, Officers arrested four (4) persons for varying offences, including possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ammunition, possession of cocaine and larceny dwelling house.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
