Significant Cache of Firearms Seized In Chaguanas — THREE (3) Men Arrested
This from Acting Commissioner of Police, Junior Benjamin, following an intelligence-driven operation conducted by a Specialist Unit with tactical support from the Southern Division Task Force, under the supervision of Snr. Supt Rodhill Kirk, which resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of firearms and the arrest of three (3) suspects.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the operation, co-ordinated by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence and Investigations, Suzette Martin, was launched on Saturday (15th March, 2025), after Officers received credible intelligence information which indicated that several armed individuals were gathered at a premises located on Shawfield Drive, Edinburgh Village, Chaguanas, and were allegedly preparing to launch an attack on a rival gang.
Given the imminent threat, the TTPS said the Officers of the Specialist Unit acted swiftly and co-ordinated with the SDTF, to execute a high-risk intervention at the identified location. Upon arrival at the location, Officers observed a white Toyota Aqua parked along the pavement, surrounded by a group of men.
Recognizing the potential danger, the TTPS said the Officers initiated an immediate vehicle interception, securing all individuals present. A subsequent search of the vehicle’s trunk revealed a large cache of handguns spread across the compartment. The firearms were promptly seized and secured as evidence.
The TTPS notes that a 22-year-old man from 7th Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, a 43-year-old man from 5th Street, Springland, Gasparillo, and a 20-year-old man from Cacandee Road, Felicity, Chaguanas, were detained at the scene.
