30-Year-Old Man Charged For Larceny of Hybrid Battery And Related Offences In Sangre Grande
A 30-year-old man appeared before the North Master’s Court on Thursday (25th September, 2025), charged with multiple offences, including larceny of a hybrid battery, following swift and diligent investigative work by Officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the accused of Williams Trace, Aranguez, was arrested in the early hours of Friday 19th September, 2025, after Police Officers observed two (2) suspicious individuals near a vehicle in the vicinity of San Louis Road Recreation Ground, Guaico.
Around 3:41 AM, Officers on mobile patrol — PC Samuel, WPC Moses, and PC Mohammed — noticed the men standing beside a black hybrid Toyota Fielder wagon. The men looked in the direction of the marked Police vehicle and fled the scene. Officers gave chase and were able to apprehend one of the suspects.
A search of his person revealed a black balaclava, a pair of gloves, and a 14-inch pipe wrench.
Subsequent checks revealed the owner of the vehicle, a resident of Villafana Trace, San Louis Road, reported his hybrid battery, valued at approximately TT $15,000, was missing and that the vehicle had been tampered with.
Crime scene investigators responded and processed the vehicle.
The TTPS said an intensive investigation, led by PC Mohammed, under the supervision of Inspector Harper, with the assistance of Cpls. Maharaj and Jupiter, PC Samuel, and WPC Moses, resulted in crucial evidence being gathered.
Following legal advice obtained on Wednesday 24th September, 2025, the suspect was formally charged with the following offences:
- Larceny hybrid battery.
- Attempted larceny motor vehicle.
- Possession of housebreaking implements.
- Malicious damage.
The TTPS said it “remains committed to investigating all reports thoroughly and professionally to ensure perpetrators are held accountable and public safety is maintained.”
