Arima Man Shot Dead During Confrontation With Police In Sangre Grande

A man is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Sangre Grande last night (Thursday 25th September, 2025). The deceased has been identified as Mustapha Gulab of Buena Vista Street, Arima.

According to reports, Officers on mobile patrol, around 7:05 PM, attempted to intercept a white Toyota Hilux that appeared suspicious, near the SWAHA Hindu College along the Cunapo Southern Main Road. However, as they approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly opened fire on Officers, prompting them to return fire.

The vehicle came to a stop at Coalmine Bridge, where Officers discovered Gulab had been shot. He was transported to the Sangre Grande Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police allege an AR-15 rifle and eleven (11) rounds of ammunition were recovered at the scene.

Crime scene investigators also recovered several spent shells.

This latest Police-involved shooting death follows another incident on Sunday 21st September, 2025, when Officers of the North Central Division Gang and Intelligence Unit shot and killed soldier Enrique Garcia and his neighbour, Shyien Trancoso, aka ‘Nookie,’ at Coalmine in Sangre Grande.

Investigations are continuing.

A man is dead and a woman wounded following a shooting incident in Valencia early Monday morning (20th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Shaun Charles of Emon Lane, Valencia, while the wounded woman, his common-law wife, is 40-year-old Clarisia James. According to reports, Charles and James were asleep along with their two (2) children at the residence, when several loud explosions rang out as gunmen opened fire in the home, shortly after 3:30 AM. Within moments, the victims realized they had been shot. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified. 32-Year-Old Hairdresser Found Dead In Cunupia Apartment After Heated Dispute, Pregnancy Revelation

A woman was found dead at her apartment in Cunupia on Friday evening (17th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Anna Lalla, a self-employed hairdresser. Lalla, who may have been pregnant at the time, was discovered unresponsive at her home in an apparent suicide. According to reports, a male acquaintance, who had been in a relationship with Lalla, returned to her apartment, located along Elohim Road, off Munroe Road, after becoming concerned when he was unable to contact her. However, upon entering the residence using a spare key, he allegedly found her hanging from a bedroom door.
