BODY of Missing 57-Year-Old Woman Found Hanging From A Tree Near Clifton Hill Beach, Point Fortin
The body of a missing woman was found hanging from a tree near Clifton Hill Beach, Point Fortin, during a search this morning (Wednesday 24th September, 2025) by Police Officers. The deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Shelawaihtie “Meera” Bedasse of Coromandel Village, Cedros. She was a sales clerk at Better Deal Variety Store in Point Fortin.
Bedasse was reported missing on Tuesday (23rd September, 2025) by her son, PC Russell Bedasse, after she failed to return home after leaving work early that day.
According to reports, Bedasse left home around 7:30 AM on Tuesday morning and was dropped off at her workplace by her son-in-law. However, her employer later confirmed that she left the store around 8:30 AM, after complaining of feeling unwell.
By Tuesday evening, calls to her mobile phones went unanswered, and attempts to reach her through relatives and friends proved unsuccessful. A missing person alert was subsequently issued by the Point Fortin Police District.
Investigators have cordoned off the scene where the body was found and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police have since recorded statements are CCTV footage is under review.
Authorities have not yet ruled out foul play.
Investigations are continuing.
