Police Open Fire On Honda Vezel In Port-of-Spain; Armed Suspects Escape

A man wanted for several robberies in Tobago managed to escape Police after they attempted to intercept his vehicle in Port-of-Spain on Saturday morning (27th September, 2025). The suspect has been identified as
Abraham Callender of Beetham Gardens.

According to reports, Officers of the Port-of-Spain Task Force were on patrol at the corner of Frederick and Prince Streets, around 11:00 AM, when they observed a white Honda Vezel (PDW 1608) with two (2) occupants.

Officers recognized the driver as a Beetham man wanted for crimes in Tobago and attempted to stop the vehicle. However, while doing so, an occupant in the passenger seat allegedly pointed a firearm in the direction of the Officers, leading one of the Officers to open fire on the vehicle.

The suspects drove off and escaped.

Investigators later found the vehicle abandoned in Beetham, which was subsequently towed to the Besson Street Police Station for further analysis.

Investigations are continuing.

More on this as it becomes available.
