Sangre Grande Duo Granted $100,000 Bail Each In Robbery With Violence Case
Two (2) men appeared before the Court on Thursday (26th September, 2025), in connection with a robbery with violence that occurred on Sunday 21st September, 2025 along Cyprus Road, Picton Road Extension, Sangre Grande.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Marcus Mottley, 18, of Phillipville and Keon Rose, 19, of Foster Road, were jointly charged with robbery with violence and appeared before Master Rehanna Hosein at North Court B, where they pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The Court subsequently granted bail to both accused in the sum of $100,000 each, with sureties and strict conditions.
Bail Conditions:
- Marcus Mottley is to report to the Sangre Grande Police Station twice per week and must observe a daily curfew: 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM. He must have no communication with, or be in proximity to, the virtual complainant.
- Keon Rose is to report to the Sangre Grande Police Station twice per week and observe a daily curfew: 9:30 PM to 5:00 AM, except when working a shift between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. He must also have no communication with, or be in proximity to, the virtual complainant.
The matter has been transferred to the Sangre Grande Magistrates' Court and has been adjourned to 27th October, 2025 for continuation.
The charges stem from an incident involving a 53-year-old taxi driver who was assaulted and robbed by three (3) suspects while operating his vehicle. Two (2) of the suspects were arrested following Police investigations, led by Officers of the Eastern Division Task Force and Sangre CID. The third suspect remains at large, and enquiries are ongoing.
The TTPS is reminding the public that “all accused persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court of law.”
