Traffic Disruptions Along Southbound Lanes of Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway Until Saturday

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure is advising the public that there will be temporary traffic disruptions along the Southbound lanes of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, between Bhagwansingh’s Hardware and Brentwood Mall, Chaguanas. These works will commence from today (Tuesday 30th September, 2025) and will be completed on Saturday (4th October, 2025). This has become necessary to facilitate road rehabilitation Works.

The Ministry notes that works will be undertaken during the day on Tuesday (30th September, 2025) and Wednesday (1st October, 2025), from 9:00 AM. Minimal traffic disruption is anticipated. However, commuters are urged to be mindful of, and give way to, heavy vehicles that may be merging onto the roadway.

Works will be undertaken at night on Thursday (2nd October, 2025) and Friday (3rd October, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Please note that during these working hours, traffic flow will be restricted to one lane only.

In light of the above, motorists are advised to comply with the following:

  • Proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers.
  • Comply with instructions from Police Officers on-site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic.
  • Be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the site.
  • Drive with caution on all milled (possibly uneven) surfaces.
  • Drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone.
