Puff, Puff, PAY: New Cigarette Prices Give Smokers Another Reason To Quit

Following the recent announcement of increased excise duties on cigarettes and tobacco products by Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo in the 2026 National Budget, Massy Distribution (Trinidad) — the authorized distributor for West Indian Tobacco Limited (WITCO) — has issued an updated suggested price list for all major cigarette brands. The increased taxes are aimed at reducing smoking rates and generating additional revenue for health and social programs.

Excise duties on CARICOM-manufactured cigarettes and tobacco products have been increased 100%, matching the 100% increase on those manufactured locally, as stipulated in the 2026 Budget. This also applies to malt beverages, beer and rum.

The new cigarette prices, which take effect from today (Monday 27th October, 2025), reflect adjustments in distributor and retail costs across a range of popular products, including Dunhill, Lucky Strike, Rothman, and Du Maurier.

The new retail prices per pack are as follows:

  • Dunhill Double Release 20s – $50.00
  • Dunhill Switch 20s – $50.00
  • Dunhill Double Purple 20s – $50.00
  • Dunhill Red 10s – $26.00
  • Dunhill Red 20s – $50.00
  • Dunhill Blue 20s – $50.00
  • Lucky Strike Red 10s (Long) – $20.00
  • Lucky Strike Red 20s (Long) – $38.00
  • Lucky Strike Red R5 20s (Short) – $38.00
  • Lucky Strike White 10s – $20.00
