River Level Advisory [6:00 PM]: Caroni River At 94% Capacity And Rising

The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government is advising citizens of the River Level Advisory this evening (Thursday 25th November, 2025) following rainfall in various parts of the country.

El Carmen (Caroni River) is currently at 94% capacity, Caroni Tumpuna at 89%, followed by Caroni (Bamboo Settlement #3) at 71%.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), runoff from today's rainfall has led to rising water levels along the Caroni River, with levels expected to approach threshold values.

Brief, localized overspill remains possible, especially in flood-prone sections of the lower basin. Smaller watercourses and drains may also become overwhelmed during heavier rainfall activity, especially near High Tide (7:03 PM).

An Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) remains in effect until 9:00 PM tonight.

Below are the various river capacities as of 6:00 PM:

Low Tide is expected at 1:58 AM and High Tide at 7:03 PM, which will result in slower water run-off.

Affected communities can contact their relevant Disaster Management Unit (DMU) Hotline.

More on this as it becomes available.
