21-Year-Old La Romaine Man Dies In Highway Crash Near Gasparillo; Truck Overturns, Pinning Him Underneath

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, near Gasparillo, early this morning (Sunday 28th December, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Eoin Kazim Peters of Arjoonsingh Drive, Dumfries Road, La Romaine.

According to reports, Peters was driving a white Hyundai H100 truck (TCN 8807) along the Southbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, when he lost control and ran off the road near the Gasparillo Overpass, around 3:45 AM. The vehicle flipped and landed upside down, approximately thirty (30) feet off the road in some bushes, in the vicinity of Fens Warehouse.

Police, Fire and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found Peters pinned under the truck. Officers of the Mon Repos Fire Station had to utilize the ‘Jaws of Life’ to extract Peters from beneath the vehicle.

A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced him dead at the scene and ordered his body removed to the San Fernando General Hospital's mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.

The truck was subsequently transported from the crash site.

Investigations are continuing into the fatal crash.

This latest accident occurred nearby to where 50-year-old Dennis Nehorah, also of La Romaine, died in a fiery crash exactly two (2) weeks ago, on Sunday 14th December, 2025.
