Trump Orders Deadly Christmas Day Strike Against ISIS In Nigeria

The United States launched a “powerful and deadly strike” against ISIS in Northwest Nigeria on Christmas night (Thursday 25th December, 2025), who have been accused of allegedly targeting and slaughtering Christians in that country. The announcement was made by President Donald Trump via Truth Social.

According to the President, “Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries! I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was. The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing. Under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper. May God Bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues.”

Trump’s post offered no further details about the action, including how many people were killed.

In a statement on X regarding the strikes, U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, said, “The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end. The Department of War is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight — on Christmas. More to come…Grateful for Nigerian Government support & cooperation. Merry Christmas!”

A Defense Department official said Nigeria’s Government approved the Christmas Day strikes and worked with the U.S. to carry them out. U.S. Africa Command, which conducted the attack, said it was directed at militants “in known ISIS camps in Nigeria” and used intelligence from U.S. and Nigerian forces.

President Trump issued a warning to both the Nigerian Government and ISIS via Truth Social on 1st November, 2025: “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”

Secretary Hegseth reshared the President’s warning on X at the time, stating, “Yes sir. The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria — and anywhere — must end immediately. The Department of War is preparing for action. Either the Nigerian Government protects Christians, or we will kill the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”

Nigeria, with a population of 237 million people, is roughly split between Muslims, who are predominant in the North, and Christians. Violence against Christians has escalated in Northern Nigeria during the past decade, as Islamic extremists such as Boko Haram wage an insurgency against the country’s secular Government and expand their influence in the region.
