30-Year-Old Man In Court For Murder Along Brian Lara Promenade

A 30-year-old man has appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of Brad Rico Guerra, which occurred on 13th November, 2025.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Denzil Phillip of Barataria was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master Mohammed in the North ‘D’ Court, on Friday (23rd January, 2026). 

The matter was adjourned to 22nd April, 2026. 

Guerra, 36, of Port-of-Spain, was found along the Brian Lara Promenade, Port-of-Spain, on 13th November, 2025, with stab wounds to his body. He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (POSGH) for medical treatment, where he subsequently died. 

A male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter on Saturday 17th January, 2026, by Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region I.

Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) Ramjag, Insp. (Ag.) Seecharan, Insp. (Ag.) Ramsumair, Insp. (Ag.) Stanislaus and Legal Officer PC Felix, all of HBI Region I, together with other various agencies. 

Phillip was charged with the offence by PC Ramsawak, also of HBI Region I, on Thursday (22nd January, 2026), following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard, SC, on that same date.
