58-Year-Old Man Arrested For Cultivating 38 Cannabis Plants At Fyzabad Home
Officers attached to the Fyzabad/Oropouche Criminal Investigations Department (CID), South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF), Crime Patrol Unit and Canine Unit, conducted a co-ordinated operation at approximately 6:00 AM on Friday (23rd January, 2026) in the Fyzabad district.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the operation was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Thompson, Supt. Jaggernath, ASPs Corrie, Forbes and Lewis, and supervised by Insp. Gosine and Sgt. Haynes.
The exercise was conducted under the authority of Regulations 8 and 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025, targeting the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
During a search at a residence located at Thick Village, Siparia Old Road, occupied by a 58-year-old male, Officers observed several cannabis plants on the premises.
A total of thirty-eight (38) cannabis plants of various sizes were found, some planted directly in the ground and others contained in plastic containers. A watering implement was also observed.
The occupant, who was the sole resident of the premises, was arrested and conveyed along with the cannabis plants and other exhibits to the Fyzabad Police Station, pending further enquiries.
