Trump Announces Death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

UPDATE 3: Iran has confirmed the death of the Ayatollah after hours of denial, even after Donald Trump announced he was dead.

UPDATE 2: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump were reportedly shown an image of Khamenei's body after it was recovered from his compound.

UPDATE: Khamenei's four (4) family members were also killed in the strikes, along with two (2) high-level military leaders — Rear Adm. Ali Shamkhani and Commander of the IRGC, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour.

“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead.” This according to a statement released a few moments ago this afternoon (Saturday 28th February, 2026) by United States President Donald Trump, announcing the death of 86-year-old Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader since 1989. He was reportedly killed after Israeli jets dropped thirty (30) bombs on his compound.

The United States and Israel struck Iran in a major operation earlier today that President Trump said was aimed at toppling the Iranian Government.

In a post on his Truth Social, President Trump said, “This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS. He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do. This is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country. We are hearing that many of their IRGC, Military, and other Security and Police Forces, no longer want to fight, and are looking for Immunity from us. As I said last night, ‘Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death!’ Hopefully, the IRGC and Police will peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots, and work together as a unit to bring back the Country to the Greatness it deserves. That process should soon be starting in that, not only the death of Khamenei but the Country has been, in only one day, very much destroyed and, even, obliterated.”

The President added, “The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

U.S. military forces hit Iranian missile sites, its air defense systems, and command and control centers for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), U.S. Central Command said in its first official statement since the strikes began early Saturday. Top commanders at Iran’s main intelligence agency were targeted by Western airstrikes, inducing panic in the security agency’s ranks, a senior Western security official told The Washington Post. 

Trump, who announced the start of “major combat operations,” said in a brief phone interview with The Post that his goal is “freedom for the people” of Iran. 

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the joint attack would last “as long as needed.” 

U.S. forces appeared focused on taking out Iranian military targets, while the Israeli strikes targeted regime sites, people familiar with the matter told The Post.

Mandatory Fixed Penalty Warning System For These 18 Traffic Violations To Take Effect From Monday

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is advising members of the public that, effective from Monday (2nd March, 2026), mandatory Fixed Penalty Warnings will be implemented for eighteen (18) specified traffic violations contained in the Eleventh Schedule to the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act , Chap. 48:50, aimed at improving road safety, encouraging compliance, and promoting corrective action. In a Media Release on Friday (27th February, 2026), the Ministry said, “ Motorists in breach of the listed violations will be issued a Fixed Penalty Warning instead of a Fixed Penalty Notice. Police Constable Hospitalized In Critical Condition Following ‘Incident’ At Sangre Grande Police Station

UPDATE (24/02/26): The injured Officer has been identified as PC Jonathan Bonaldo, who is assigned to the Sangre Grande Police Station. He is still receiving treatment for his severe injuries at Hospital. Bonaldo reportedly managed to get to his feet after his fall and made his way into the station’s Charge Room. Bleeding from the head, he is said to have rested his head on the Station Diary, leaving it stained with blood. 28-Year-Old Man Shot Dead Inside Car In Santa Cruz; 23 Spent Shells Found

A man is dead following a shooting incident in Santa Cruz last night (Wednesday 25th February, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old labourer, Hakeem Baker, also known as “Peng,” of Northwest Drive, Patna Village, Diego Martin. He was gunned down inside a car. According to reports, Officers of the North Eastern Division were alerted about several loud explosions heard on Sun Valley Extension, La Canoa Road, shortly before 9:00 PM, and responded to the scene. A man is dead following a shooting incident in Barataria earlier today (Sunday 1st March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Rivaldo Pierre of Gilkes Street, Four Roads, Diego Martin.  According to reports, Pierre was shot inside a house along 10th Street, Barataria. A man has died at Hospital, days after a shooting incident during a robbery at his sales tent in Gulf View on Saturday night (14th February, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 56-year-old Vijay Nanan of Rousillac. According to reports, the businessman and his employee, 40-year-old Yudelcy Martinez, were conducting sales at his tent along Gulf View Link Road, when two (2) men dressed in dark clothing stormed in and announced a robbery, around 7:00 PM.
