49-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Vehicle At Queen’s Park Savannah; 9-Year-Old Son Witness Murder

A man is dead following a brazen shooting incident at the Queen’s Park Savannah (QPS) this afternoon (Thursday 30th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Masud Prosper of Belmont. His 9-year-old son reportedly witnessed the killing.

According to reports, Prosper was in the driver’s seat of a black Mitsubishi Lancer (PCB 3884), which was in the parking area in front of the food court, when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle in a sustained burst of gunshots, around 5:30 PM. 


Relatives said he had gone to pick up his 9-year-old son from football practice when the shooting occurred. The boy reportedly witnessed his father’s killing.

Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded. However, Prosper, who was shot multiple times about the body, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A District Medical Officer (DMO) ordered the body removed to the Forensic Science Centre, where an autopsy is pending.

While the incident forced some people to abandon their daily exercise at the savannah, many others continued their normal routines. Food vendors continued setting up as usual, serving customers who were unaware that a man had been gunned down a short distance away.

Police are currently at the scene.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

TWO (2) Suspects Arrested Following Armed Robbery At Chaguanas Mini-Mart

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a man and a woman were arrested and a firearm recovered, following a co-ordinated Police response to an armed robbery at a mini-mart in Chaguanas this afternoon (Friday 17th July, 2026). At approximately 12:55 PM, Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area North) responded to a report of a robbery with aggravation at a mini-mart, located along La Clave Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas. The TTPS said preliminary enquiries revealed that two (2) suspects arrived at the business establishment in a silver Toyota Aqua. UPDATE (06/07/26): Shahnaaz Ali has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. UPDATE (12/07/26): Police have launched a manhunt for the 23-year-old boyfriend of Kelimar Del Jesus Duran Morillo, following her fatal stabbing early Saturday morning. 42-Year-Old Man Killed When Panel Van Crashes Into Truck Along Caparo Valley Brasso Road

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road this morning (Saturday 4th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Jason Ramnanan of Caparo. According to reports, Ramnanan was driving a white panel van when it collided with a green and yellow waste disposal truck (TCJ 1195) near the Santa Phillipa Bridge along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road, around 9:00 AM.
