Teacher Opens Fire Outside White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner — Trump, JD Vance Evacuated By Secret Service

UPDATE 2: Trump said the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner will be rescheduled within thirty (30) days.

UPDATE: 31-year-old Cole Allen was targeting President Trump and administration officials, according to a 1,000-word document the authorities have since tied to the gunman.

A gunman opened fire outside the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner last night (Saturday 25th April, 2026), where President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were in attendance, sending well-dressed guests scampering for safety under tables and on the floor of the huge ballroom. A law-enforcement officer was the only wounded victim in the terrifying attack. He has since been released from the Hospital.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, California, was tackled by security and taken into custody. Torrance is located about fifteen (15) miles from downtown Los Angeles. He is a Caltech grad who recently won a “teacher of the month” award. Allen worked as a teacher at C2 Education, a private tutoring and test-prep company, where he was named teacher of the month in December of 2024, according to a LinkedIn post by the company that included the hashtag #InspiringEducators. 

Allen was armed with a shotgun, handgun and knives and was a guest at the Washington Hilton where the dinner was taking place. He ran at a U.S. Secret Service security checkpoint at about 8:36 PM, Eastern Time, when food was being served by waiting staff. 

The gunman shot at a law-enforcement officer, who was luckily wearing a bulletproof vest, before being tackled to the ground and restrained.

Allen was taken to a local Hospital where he is being evaluated, said Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser during a Press Briefing.

Police have not yet shared a motive or target, but they said they believe he was working alone. Trump called the shooter a “lone wolf’ and a “whack job” at a Press Conference shortly after the attack. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the alleged gunman was likely targeting Trump administration officials.

He appears to have legally purchased two (2) guns that he had on him on Saturday, Blanche told CNN’s “State of the Union.” Blanche also said officials believe Allen traveled by train from California to Chicago and then on to Washington, where he checked into the Washington Hilton.

Allen is scheduled to appear in Court on Monday (27th April, 2026) to face charges on two (2) counts — using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on federal officers using a dangerous weapon. 

Investigations are continuing into the alarming incident.

UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Joseph Narcise, who lived in the Enterprise community. According to Narcise’s 18-year-old sister, Davina Buchoon, both men had been involved in a longstanding feud which began after Narcise moved to Enterprise from Arima, along with his common-law wife and her five (5) children. Buchoon said tensions between Narcise and the 40-year-old man had persisted for months, with frequent exchanges of words. UPDATE (28/10/26):  20-year-old Nicholas Ramlal has been remanded into custody after making his first Court appearance since being charged with the heinous murders of his mother and teenage sister. Ramlal appeared before High Court Master Valene Guerra Abraham on Tuesday afternoon (27th October, 2026). The case was adjourned to 22nd February, 2027. He was detained by Police at the scene of the crime after claiming that his relatives were killed in a home invasion, from which he managed to escape relatively unscathed. 47-Year-Old Woman Shot Dead Outside Arima Home — Police On The Scene

A woman is dead following a shooting incident in Arima early this morning (Saturday 24th October, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Yvette Baptiste of Pinto Road, Arima. 35-Year-Old Man Arrested Following Fatal Stabbing At Busy Corner, Chaguanas

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a 35-year-old man is in Police custody following the fatal stabbing of a man at Busy Corner, Southern Main Road, Chaguanas , on Saturday morning (10th October, 2026). The deceased has not yet been identified. The TTPS said around 7:30 AM, Officers on mobile patrol along Old Endeavour Road received a report from a pedestrian about a man lying motionless on the roadway at Busy Corner. The Officers responded and, upon arrival in the vicinity of Busy Corner Drugs, observed the body of a male lying face down on the roadway with apparent injuries. 35-Year-Old Man Stabbed To Death In Valencia — Police Investigating

EDITOR’S NOTE: The body of this article has been updated with new details. A man is dead following a stabbing incident in Valencia early this morning (Sunday 1st November, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Fenwick Gibson of Mc David Street, Lopinot. According to reports, Gibson and his cousin, Este Huggins, visited a gas station in Valencia to refuel their vehicle, when Gibson reportedly became involved in an argument with a group of men, around 5:48 AM. During the confrontation, Gibson was allegedly beaten and stabbed in the neck. He was subsequently placed in a white open-tray van and transported to the Arima Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. UPDATE:  Police apprehended the suspect , identified as a 35-year-old labourer of Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, following a brief chase. Officers of the Central Police Division were on mobile patrol along Old Endeavour Road, around 7:30 AM, when they were alerted by a pedestrian that a man was lying motionless in a pool of blood on the roadway.
