36-Year-Old Man Missing After Reporting Extortion To Police — Last Seen On Wednesday
UPDATE (27/05/26): Taxi driver Simon Joash Bhagwath and his vehicle remain missing after he was last seen exactly seven (7) days ago. His father, Percy Bhagwath and mother, Juliana Lal-Bhagwath, are appealing for anyone with information to contact the Police so that their son can return home safely.
The family last heard from him on 20th May, 2026, while he was at the Gasparillo Police Station.
Reports state that Bhagwath had been under stress over issues involving a Spanish-speaking girlfriend and alleged threats made against him.
Members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT) have joined the search as investigators continue to appeal for information from the public.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is seeking the public’s assistance to find a missing 36-year-old man. In a social media post today (Saturday 23rd May, 2026), the TTPS said Simon Joash Bhagwath of Corosal Road, Whiteland, was reported missing on Thursday (21st May, 2026). His white Y12 AD wagon (PDR 2070) is also missing.
According to reports, Bhagwath made a Police report on Sunday 17th May, 2026 about being extorted and threats made to his life. He subsequently returned to the Gasparillo Police Station on Wednesday (20th May, 2026) to give a full statement. After doing so, he reportedly went to ply his vehicle for hire, but never returned home. His vehicle has not been found.
