36-Year-Old Man Shot Dead By Police In San Juan After Stabbing An Officer
A man is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in San Juan on Monday evening (22nd June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Abraham Hackette, who was mentally ill and said to be homeless, but had a last known address at Farroe Terrace, San Juan. He was allegedly killed by Police after attacking and stabbing an Officer.
According to reports, Police Constable David Noel and other Officers of the San Juan Police Station responded to a call of domestic disturbance at the corners of Concord and Saddle Road, San Juan, around 6:40 PM. Residents at the location were being harassed by the outpatients of the St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital and called the Police.
When the Officers arrived, they met Hackette who was armed with a knife. Police said he attacked the Officers and stabbed PC Noel in the left and upper right arms.
He was subsequently shot and taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Constable Noel is expected to undergo surgery next week for the injuries sustained during the attack.
Investigations are continuing by Inspector Hosein.
