36-Year-Old Man Shot Dead By Police In San Juan After Stabbing An Officer

A man is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in San Juan on Monday evening (22nd June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Abraham Hackette, who was mentally ill and said to be homeless, but had a last known address at Farroe Terrace, San Juan. He was allegedly killed by Police after attacking and stabbing an Officer.

According to reports, Police Constable David Noel and other Officers of the San Juan Police Station responded to a call of domestic disturbance at the corners of Concord and Saddle Road, San Juan, around 6:40 PM. Residents at the location were being harassed by the outpatients of the St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital and called the Police.

When the Officers arrived, they met Hackette who was armed with a knife. Police said he attacked the Officers and stabbed PC Noel in the left and upper right arms.

He was subsequently shot and taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Constable Noel is expected to undergo surgery next week for the injuries sustained during the attack.

Investigations are continuing by Inspector Hosein.

A woman has been charged with the murder of   Chaguanas businessman Gregory Reece , who was stabbed to death at her apartment in Woodford Gardens on Sunday 28th June, 2026. TWO (2) Suspects Arrested Following Armed Robbery At Chaguanas Mini-Mart

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a man and a woman were arrested and a firearm recovered, following a co-ordinated Police response to an armed robbery at a mini-mart in Chaguanas this afternoon (Friday 17th July, 2026). At approximately 12:55 PM, Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area North) responded to a report of a robbery with aggravation at a mini-mart, located along La Clave Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas. The TTPS said preliminary enquiries revealed that two (2) suspects arrived at the business establishment in a silver Toyota Aqua. The driver remained in the vehicle while the other suspect, armed with a firearm, entered the mini-mart, announced a robbery, and discharged two (2) shots before stealing a quantity of cash from the proprietor. Shahnaaz Ali, the 31-year-old woman who was found in Mayaro the day after she failed to return home from work in Port-of-Spain , has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Ali was found wandering along Gran Lagoon Beach, Mayaro, around 7:00 AM on Saturday (4th July, 2026), after reportedly escaping from her captors. UPDATE (12/07/26): Police have launched a manhunt for the 23-year-old boyfriend of Kelimar Del Jesus Duran Morillo, following her fatal stabbing early Saturday morning. A man is dead and a woman wounded following a shooting incident in Siparia on Thursday (16th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Akeil Packet, also known as “Shaka.” He was killed just weeks after his brother was also murdered in Siparia . A teenager is dead following a horrific road traffic accident in Moruga early this morning (Sunday 5th July, 2026).
