Barrackpore Man Granted $300,000 Bail On Attempted Murder And Ammunition Charges

A man charged with attempted murder and possession of ammunition has been granted bail following his appearance before the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday (22nd June, 2026).

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the accused, Ryan Sambucharan, was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 with surety or $20,000 cash alternative for the offence of attempted murder, and $100,000 with surety or $10,000 cash alternative for the offence of possession of ammunition.

He was also ordered to comply with strict bail conditions, including residing at Lengua Village, Lucy Trace, Barrackpore, reporting to the Princes Town Police Station once per month between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and having no direct or indirect contact with the complainant. He is further required to remain at least 500 metres away from the victim at all times.

The Court matters have been adjourned for a Status Hearing on 22nd December, 2026 and a Sufficiency Hearing on 16th December, 2026. The separate charge of possession of ammunition is also scheduled for hearing on 23rd July, 2026 at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court.

Police reports indicate that the charges arose from an incident on Saturday 9th May, 2026 at approximately 8:15 AM, at #18 Mansingh Trace, Lengua, Barrackpore, during which a verbal altercation allegedly escalated and the victim was assaulted with a cutlass, sustaining multiple injuries about the body.

Following investigations, the suspect was arrested on Wednesday 17th June, 2026. During the arrest, Officers reportedly recovered two (2) rounds of 16-gauge ammunition. Instructions were subsequently received on Friday (19th June, 2026) for the suspect to be formally charged.

The TTPS said it “continues to urge members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and to report criminal activity to the nearest Police Station or through official emergency channels.”

22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Morvant — Face Disfigured In Hail of Bullets

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. 19-Year-Old Driver Dies In Cocorite Crash — Passenger Hospitalized

A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Chunilal Bandoo of Mohammed Lane, Mc Inroy Street, Curepe. He was the father of a daughter, who resides in the United States. A man wanted for extortion is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Riyad Sean Ali of Orangefield Settlement, Carapichaima. His elderly mother and brother were reportedly detained and firearms seized at the scene. BODY of Woman Found Inside Abandoned Security Booth In San Fernando — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026). While unconfirmed, the deceased is believed to be Marcia Thomas Singh, who residents said appeared to be in her 60s. She had been apparently residing in the security booth for some time. A man is dead following a shooting incident in Morvant early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026) — bringing the number of people killed in Morvant since Tuesday (8th September, 2026) to four (4).
