Bodies of TWO (2) Women Found After Apartment Building Fire In Port-of-Spain

Two (2) women are dead following a devastating fire at an apartment building in Port-of-Spain last night (Friday 12th June, 2026). The deceased have been identified as 23-year-old Aaliyah Griffith and 60-year-old Susan Ramlogan. 

A baby was miraculously rescued from the burning building.

According to reports, Fire Officials responded to a fire at the Coehlo Building, located along Prince Street between Charlotte and Nelson Streets, around 9:30 PM. Officers said approximately thirty (30) people were living on the third floor of the building and, upon arrival, rescued four (4) people, some from inside the building and others from the roof. Those rescued ranged in age between eighteen (18) and fifty-five (55).


Fire Officials left the scene and returned to their Fire Station, around 2:30 AM this morning (Saturday 13th June, 2026), after extinguishing the blaze and after electricity was cut from the surrounding areas, resulting in poor lighting conditions. Officers said no one informed them that anyone was unaccounted for at the time. 

The Officers, however, returned to the apartment building, around 6:30 AM this morning. During a walkthrough of the third floor, where the fire was mostly contained, they discovered the bodies of the women in a bathroom and a bedroom.

Fire Officials say the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The damage is estimated at $4 million, while the building is estimated to be valued at $10 million.

Following the fire, the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) said in a Media Release that it is “incredibly proud of the members of the Distribution North Emergency Crew who responded immediately to help to rescue a baby and others from a burning building in Port-of-Spain. We commend them for their quick thinking and selfless action in the face of danger.”

T&TEC said it will "share photos of the crew when they are back on duty."

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the deadly blaze.

22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Morvant — Face Disfigured In Hail of Bullets

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. 19-Year-Old Driver Dies In Cocorite Crash — Passenger Hospitalized

A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. Missing Elderly Man Found Dead Under Suitcases At House In Curepe — Police Investigating

The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Chunilal Bandoo of Mohammed Lane, Mc Inroy Street, Curepe. He was the father of a daughter, who resides in the United States. A man wanted for extortion is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Riyad Sean Ali of Orangefield Settlement, Carapichaima. His elderly mother and brother were reportedly detained and firearms seized at the scene. BODY of Woman Found Inside Abandoned Security Booth In San Fernando — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026). While unconfirmed, the deceased is believed to be Marcia Thomas Singh, who residents said appeared to be in her 60s. She had been apparently residing in the security booth for some time. A man is dead following a shooting incident in Morvant early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026) — bringing the number of people killed in Morvant since Tuesday (8th September, 2026) to four (4).
