65-Year-Old Woman Struck Dead By Panel Van Along Southern Main Road, Marabella

UPDATE (16/07/26): A post-mortem examination at the San Fernando Mortuary has revealed that Jameela Basrally suffered from cranial hemorrhaging and multiple injuries consistent with a vehicular accident.

Speaking to reporters outside the San Fernando General Hospital, her son, Jubal Basrally, recalled how he watched his mother bleed to death in his arms. “I saw my mother die in front of my eyes. She bled out in my hands,” he lamented.

Jubal added, “Her skull was cracked open. She bled through her nose and her mouth. She bled out in about thirty (30) seconds. Nobody helped. I need justice.”

A female pedestrian is dead after she was struck by a van along the Southern Main Road in Marabella earlier today (Tuesday 14th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Jameela Basrally of Soledad Road West, Claxton Bay.

According to preliminary reports, Basrally was walking near Market Street when the 51-year-old male driver of a panel van allegedly swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle, striking the woman in the process. The impact caused her to suffer severe head and body injuries. The driver is said to be from Point Fortin.

Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Basrally was conveyed to the San Fernando General Hospital, where she subsequently died while receiving emergency medical treatment.

Videos circulating on social media showed the woman lying at the side of the road near the fence of JTA Supermarket, as members of the public, along with her son, tried to assist her before emergency responders arrived.

Basrally would have celebrated her 66th birthday later this year, on 2nd September, 2026.

Investigations are continuing into the fatal accident by Officers of the Marabella Police Station.

22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Morvant — Face Disfigured In Hail of Bullets

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). A man wanted for extortion is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). BODY of Woman Found Inside Abandoned Security Booth In San Fernando — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026). While unconfirmed, the deceased is believed to be Marcia Thomas Singh, who residents said appeared to be in her 60s. She had been apparently residing in the security booth for some time. A man is dead following a shooting incident in Morvant early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026) — bringing the number of people killed in Morvant since Tuesday (8th September, 2026) to four (4).
