EIGHT (8) Venezuelan Men Escape From Immigration Detention Centre In Arima
UPDATE (19/07/26): The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said over a dozen male Venezuelan nationals escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) on Saturday after Detention Officers were assaulted and overpowered. Law enforcement agencies are actively searching for eight (8) men who remain at large.
According to reports, a total of eight (8) Venezuelan detainees managed to escape from the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) in Arima at approximately 3:00 PM this afternoon (Saturday 18th July, 2026). A massive manhunt is currently underway for their recapture.
The men have been identified as follows:
- Luis Brito
- Jose Brito
- Roimer Duran
- Edison Monroy
- Felix Espanol
- Edison La Rosa
- Everth Ramirez
- Manuel Henriquez
Dash-cam footage from a passing vehicle shows one of the Venezuelan detainees running outside the Immigration Detention Centre.
Unconfirmed reports state that at least one of the escapees was recaptured after the daring breakout from the facility.
It is unknown at this time how the men made their escape.
An investigation has been launched into the incident as the search for them continues.
