Fire Destroys PS Sawmill Outlet In Montrose, Chaguanas — Investigation Underway

A large fire destroyed the PS Sawmill Outlet in Montrose, Chaguanas, early this morning (Tuesday 14th July, 2026), causing extensive damage to the furniture and hardwood supplier. Central Auto Spares & Accessories, located right next door, may have also sustained damage during the fire.

According to reports, the blaze started at the business place, located near the traffic lights by Subway in Montrose, around 2:30 AM, and quickly spread.

Fire Services were notified and responded to the scene. The blaze was subsequently extinguished.

The PS Sawmill Outlet supplies furniture as well as cedar, teak and other locally-sourced hardwoods.

In a social media statement following the fire, the company informed customers that operations at the Montrose outlet had been affected and redirected enquiries to its other locations and services. “Due to a fire that ravaged our PS Sawmill Outlet, we would like to redirect your calls,” the company said.

Customers were advised to contact the Flanagin Town store at 265-4607 or the sawmill at 293-0998. The company also directed customers to the Facebook page of Phillip Sookraj Lumber Enterprises Limited for furniture and hardware supplies.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Have a blessed day everyone,” the company added.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blaze.

More on this as it becomes available.
