According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), two (2) men have been charged with attempted murder following investigations into a violent chopping incident which occurred in Barrackpore on Monday 22nd June, 2026.

Jerreme Sambucharan and Darrion Thomas, also known as “Gully,” were jointly charged with attempted murder on Tuesday (7th July, 2026), at the Princes Town Court, following an investigation conducted by Officers of the Barrackpore Police Station.

The charges stem from an incident in which a 30-year-old contractor of Mansingh Trace, Lengua, Barrackpore, was allegedly attacked inside his home by two (2) armed assailants at approximately 12:10 AM on Monday 22nd June, 2026. The victim sustained multiple chop wounds about his body and was taken for medical treatment. He was subsequently admitted to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he remained for fifteen (15) days before being discharged on Monday (6th July, 2026).

Investigators from the Barrackpore Police Station, led by PC Sankar, conducted extensive enquiries, including processing the crime scene, recording witness statements, obtaining medical evidence and pursuing intelligence-led investigations.

On Thursday 25th June, 2026, Officers conducting an intelligence-led operation in the district arrested two (2) suspects in connection with the incident. Following further investigations, legal advice was obtained and instructions were received to lay joint charges of attempted murder against both men.

The TTPS said it “remains committed to thoroughly investigating violent crimes and bringing offenders before the Courts, while continuing to work with members of the public to enhance the safety and security of communities.”
