Powerful Magnitude 7.4 Earthquake Ravages Columbia — At Least 47 Killed, Many Trapped Under Collapsed Buildings

Reports state that at least forty-seven (47) people are dead so far, following a devastating magnitude 7.4 earthquake which struck Western Colombia this morning (Monday 10th August, 2026). Many residents are said to be trapped under debris of collapsed buildings. The powerful earthquake forced people to evacuate their homes as far as the capital of Bogotá and has left cities across the West of the country — Pereira, Quibdo, Cali and Manizales — ravaged.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and Colombia’s counterpart, the epicenter was located in San Jose Del Palmar, a community of about 4,800 people in the Choco region, about 250 miles (400 kilometers) West of Bogotá. The USGS said it struck at a depth of 66 miles (107 kilometers). The quake was felt strongly across much of Colombia, including Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali, and into parts of neighbouring Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama — though minimal damage was reported in these countries.

Local Officials confirmed at least eighteen (18) people were killed in the Colombian city of Pereira, two (2) in the city of Manizales, and twenty-seven (27) people in the Valle del Cauca department, where Colombia’s third-biggest city, Cali, is located. At least three (3) killed in Valle del Cauca were children, according to the Governor. Colombia’s Interior Minister, meanwhile, said more than twenty (20) municipalities across the country had been hit.

Colombia’s Geological Service said that it had been “the highest magnitude earthquake registered in Colombia in the last decade” and that it had been followed by a pair of 2.8 and 4.8 magnitude aftershocks. Authorities also reported that flights were suspended at the Airports of Manizales, Quibdo, Armenia, Cartago y Buenaventura and Pereira.

While buildings were collapsing in Colombia this morning, desperate families in Venezuela were at the same time continuing to search ruins for the bodies of their loved ones, after two (2) back-to-back quakes in late June destroyed hundreds of buildings and killed more than 5,000 people.

22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Morvant — Face Disfigured In Hail of Bullets

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). BODY of Woman Found Inside Abandoned Security Booth In San Fernando — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026).
