Today: Sunny, Hazy, Breezy, 25% Chance For Heavy Showers — Significant Saharan Dust; 33°C Max
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect generally sunny, hazy and breezy conditions today (Tuesday 25th August, 2026), despite isolated showers. There is a low (25%) chance of isolated heavy showers/thunderstorms, favouring Southern regions of Trinidad. Tonight will be mostly fair but hazy, despite the chance of isolated showers.
Gusty winds are likely with showers and in the event of heavy showers/thunderstorms, street/flash flooding may occur in areas so prone.
The Met Office notes that a significant concentration of Saharan dust is expected. Persons sensitive to changes in air quality should take the appropriate precautions.
The forecast maximum temperature today will be 33°C at Piarco in Trinidad and 32°C at Crown Point in Tobago.
Seas are moderate with waves 1.5m to 2m in open waters and up to 1m in sheltered areas.
Recommendations for outdoor activities today:
Persons planning to spend time outdoors today should stay hydrated, use sunscreen, wear lightweight clothing and consider limiting prolonged exposure during the hottest parts of the day, with temperatures reaching 33°C in Trinidad and 32°C in Tobago. The significant concentration of Saharan dust may reduce air quality, so those sensitive to dust should take appropriate precautions and consider wearing a suitable mask if necessary. Although conditions will be generally sunny and breezy, keep an umbrella or rain protection handy and monitor the skies, particularly in Southern Trinidad, where isolated heavy showers or thunderstorms may develop. Gusty winds can accompany showers, and motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution in areas prone to street or flash flooding. Persons venturing onto the water should also exercise caution, as seas will be moderate with waves of 1.5m to 2m in open waters.
