TTDF Soldier Among FIVE (5) Home Invasion Suspects Captured

Quick action by Officers of the South Western Division (SWD) led to the successful arrest of five (5) home invasion suspects and the recovery of several stolen items on Saturday (8th August, 2026).

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), reports state that at approximately 3:45 AM, victim 1 was in the gallery of his home at Kay Trace, Mendez Village, Siparia, when he was approached by four (4) masked men, one of whom appeared to be armed with a firearm.

The men forced the victim into his home through the front door, restrained him with a charging cable and a shirt, and instructed him to lie on the floor. They then proceeded to the bedroom area, where they ransacked the room and relieved the victim of a Redmi cellular phone and a quantity of jewellery.

The suspects subsequently fled through the front door and made good their escape in a white Toyota Aqua.

Upon receiving the report, Officers from the Siparia Police Station, PC Ablack and WPC Cunningham, proceeded to the location, where they met with and interviewed the victim and several other persons.

While at the scene, the Officers received information regarding another home invasion, also in Mendez Village, Siparia.

Upon arrival at the second scene, Officers met with victim 2, who reported that at approximately 3:30 PM on Saturday afternoon (8th August, 2026), he was sitting in the living room with his mother, victim 3, when three (3) masked men, one of whom appeared to be armed, entered the house through the front door.

Victim 2 was instructed to lie on the ground and had his hands restrained with a shirt, while victim 3 was instructed to remain seated.

The suspects then proceeded to the bedroom area, where they ransacked the rooms and took possession of a Scotiabank card, a box of jewellery, a OnePlus mobile device, a CAT mobile device and TT $3,000.

The suspects subsequently fled through the front door and entered an awaiting white Toyota Aqua bearing the same registration number as the vehicle involved in the previous incident.

The scene was processed, and the surrounding area was canvassed for CCTV footage. While reviewing the footage, Officers observed a black Nissan Kicks travelling in convoy with the Toyota Aqua.

A broadcast was immediately sent to the South Western Division Operations Centre, providing descriptions of both vehicles.

Moments later, Officers of the Highway Patrol Unit spotted the black Nissan Kicks travelling North in the vicinity of the Gasparillo Overpass. The vehicle was intercepted and searched.

During the search, Officers recovered cellular phones and jewellery belonging to the victims.

The driver, a 23-year-old Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) member of Dookie Street, Penal, was arrested.

Further enquiries led to the arrest of four (4) other suspects: a 38-year-old man of Latchoos Road, Penal; an 18-year-old man of Smart Avenue, Penal; another 18-year-old man of Dookie Street, Penal; and a 21-year-old man of Concession Road, Sea Lots, Port-of-Spain.

Investigations are continuing.

50-Year-Old Man Arrested Following $1,000 Robbery With Violence In Caroni

A man was arrested and a vehicle recovered following a report of robbery with violence in Caroni on Monday afternoon (10th August, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 2:05 PM, the victim, a 53-year-old proprietor, was in her husband’s vehicle at the side of the roadway in front of her home, located along Caroni South Bank Road, Caroni, when two (2) men alighted from a red Hyundai vehicle. One of the men reportedly shouted, “Gimme the money!” and grabbed the victim by her arm. The victim, who became fearful, handed over a small white envelope containing TT $1,000 in cash. Former Payroll Officer Facing 61 Fraud Charges For Allegedly Diverting Over $166,000 To Her Bank Account

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a former employee at a security consulting company has been charged with more than sixty (60) offences arising from an alleged case of fraud. In a Media Release today (Friday 14th August, 2026), the TTPS said the suspect, identified as Brenda Omadath, was employed as a Payroll Officer at the company. During a financial audit, it was revealed that during the period Thursday 9th January, 2025 to Tuesday 10th March, 2026, Omadath, while employed at the company, allegedly falsified payment sheets to deceive her employers and subsequently transferred sums totalling $166,461.05 to her account at a local financial institution. Man Dies In Head-On Collision Along Rivulet Road, Couva; Another Driver Hospitalized

A man is dead and another injured following a head-on collision along Rivulet Road in Couva on Friday night (31st July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Avinash, also known as “Chucky Avi,” of Dow Village. According to reports, a white Toyota Hilux (TDW 4431) was travelling East along Rivulet Road, when a grey Nissan Frontier (TCK 8116), heading West, allegedly crossed over into the opposite lane, resulting in a violent head-on collision with the Hilux, around 9:30 PM. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Both drivers sustained injuries and were conveyed to the Couva Health Facility for emergency medical treatment. However, Avinash subsequently succumbed to his injuries. National Hurricane Center Following Potential Development of TWO (2) Systems In Tropical Atlantic

UPDATE (10/08/26): In its first official statement , the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said it has been monitoring an active Tropical Wave in the Central Tropical Atlantic, which is expected to affect the Southern Windward Islands from Thursday (13th August, 2026) of this week. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami said it is now following the potential development of two (2) systems in the Tropical Atlantic during the upcoming week. A Chaguanas man and his 18-year-old girlfriend have appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of 25-year-old Shayanna Ruiz , which occurred on 29th July, 2026, in the Central Division. UPDATE (17/08/26): The second deceased man has been identified as Clint Jordan. Relatives of both Nigel Mohammed and Clint Jordan have disputed several aspects of what transpired at the property.
