Venezuelan Gunmen Ambush Payroll Clerk At Construction Site In Santa Cruz — Nearly $100,000 In Cash Stolen

Police are investigating a brazen robbery in which nearly $100,000 in payroll cash was stolen after Venezuelan gunmen assaulted a payroll clerk at a construction site in Santa Cruz on Friday afternoon (14th August, 2026).

According to reports, a 51-year-old Venezuelan national arrived at the construction site, located along North Hills, Cutucupano Road, Santa Cruz, carrying approximately $94,000 in cash in a knapsack. The funds were intended to pay approximately seventy (70) workers who were employed on the project.

However, a few moments later, two (2) armed men entered the site, confronted the payroll clerk and announced a robbery, around 2:07 PM. The victim was assaulted by the gunmen before escaping with the knapsack containing the cash.

The clerk raised an alarm, which prompted an on-duty S.W.A.T Security Officer at the site to respond. A gunfight then erupted between the Officer and the suspects. Reports state that one of the men, a Venezuelan national, managed to flee on foot with the knapsack containing the cash.

The second Venezuelan suspect of Cocorite, was subsequently apprehended with the assistance of workers at the construction site. He was held with a .38 revolver and beaten before being handed over to the Police. The suspect was taken for medical attention at Hospital along with the victim of the heist, who is also said to be a Venezuelan national.

Officers from the Santa Cruz Police Station, San Juan/Santa Cruz CID and the NED CSI Unit responded. 

Crime scene investigators recovered several items of evidential value at the construction site.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the daring robbery.

22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Morvant — Face Disfigured In Hail of Bullets

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). A man wanted for extortion is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). BODY of Woman Found Inside Abandoned Security Booth In San Fernando — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026). While unconfirmed, the deceased is believed to be Marcia Thomas Singh, who residents said appeared to be in her 60s. She had been apparently residing in the security booth for some time.
