271 Rounds of Ammunition Seized At Residence In Couva — TWO (2) Occupants Arrested

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), two (2) persons were arrested and 271 rounds of ammunition were seized, along with two (2) rifle magazines, during an anti-crime exercise conducted by Officers of the Central Division Task Force Area South on Wednesday (16th September, 2026).

The TTPS said around 6:50 AM, Officers responded to intelligence concerning the storage of firearms and ammunition at a residence located at June Street, Couva. A party of Officers proceeded to the location, where they met two (2) occupants.

A search of the premises was conducted, pursuant to Regulation 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026. During the search, PC Quamina found a green and black bag in a bedroom occupied by the two (2) persons.

The bag contained two (2) rifle magazines bearing the markings “7.62 x 39,” 201 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and 70 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.



The two (2) occupants were arrested, informed of the offences of possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, and taken to the Couva Police Station.

PC Quamina is continuing enquiries.

The TTPS notes that the arrests and seizure formed part of Operation R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. SHIELD, conducted in Area South of the Central Division between 4:30 AM and 12:30 PM on Wednesday (16th September, 2026).

The exercise was co-ordinated by ACP Remy, Senior Superintendent Bhagwandeen, ASP Harripersad and Acting Inspector Rampersad, and led and supervised by Sgt. Samuel, Cpls. Duncan and Joseph, together with Officers of the Central Division Task Force Area South.
