FOUR (4) Men Arrested Minutes After Vehicle Theft In Tunapuna

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), four (4) men were arrested and eight (8) street checks conducted during Operation VTRAP (Vehicular Theft Reduction and Prevention), aimed at reducing and preventing motor vehicle larceny in areas West of the North Central Division.

The TTPS said around 4:45 AM this morning (Monday 14th September, 2026), while conducting checks along the Eastern Main Road, St. Augustine, PC Redhead and a party of Officers stopped a white Nissan Wingroad, which was proceeding West along the roadway at a high rate of speed with its headlights off, in the vicinity of a school.

The Officers reported that the occupants of the vehicle matched the descriptions of suspects involved in a report of larceny, which occurred in the Tunapuna district around 4:35 AM this morning.

PC Ramoutar subsequently identified himself as a Police Officer and, with the assistance of the Officers present, arrested four (4) men, ages twenty-three (23) to twenty-six (26). PC Ramoutar of the Tunapuna CID is continuing enquiries.

The TTPS notes that the operation concentrated on several areas, including the Eastern Main Road, Tunapuna, El Dorado and St. Augustine; Goya Street, Caura Royal Road, Kassie Street and Persad Street, El Dorado; Tunapuna Road, Tunapuna; the Southern Main Road, Curepe; Knowles Street, Alice Street and Jackson Street, Curepe; Real Spring, Valsayn; Grand Bazaar, Bamboo; Mt. Hope; Mendez Drive; Hutton Street, St. Joseph; and Mt. D'or Road, Champs Fleurs.

The operation was initiated by Superintendent Jaikaran, ASP Pierre and ASP Bharath, co-ordinated by Inspector Ramdial and Ag./Sgt. Charles and directly supervised by W/Cpl. Maurice and Ag./Cpl. Persad, along with members of the North Central Division Task Force-West, Tunapuna Charge Room and Tunapuna CID.
