Today’s Weather: Hot, Sunny, 40% Chance For Thunderstorm Activity; 34°C Max

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect generally hot and sunny conditions today (Tuesday 15th September, 2026). A few partly cloudy spells and showers are likely over a few areas during the afternoon, and there is also a medium (40%) chance of isolated thunderstorm activity, especially along Western areas of Trinidad. Partly cloudy spells and showers are likely to persist over a few areas during the night.

Street flooding and gusty winds are possible in the event of heavy downpours.

The forecast maximum temperature today will be 34°C at Piarco in Trinidad and 32°C at Crown Point in Tobago.

Seas are slight to moderate with waves 1.2m to 1.5m in open waters and below 0.5m and choppy near showers in sheltered areas.

Recommendations for outdoor activities today:

If you’ll be outdoors today, stay well hydrated and use sunscreen, a hat or other protection from the strong heat and sunshine, particularly during the hottest part of the afternoon. Keep an umbrella or rain gear nearby, as isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop, especially over Western Trinidad, and heavy downpours could produce sudden street flooding and gusty winds. If thunder is heard, seek shelter indoors and avoid exposed areas, trees and open water until conditions improve. Those heading to the beach or out on the water should exercise caution around showers, where winds can become gusty and sheltered waters may turn choppy, despite generally slight to moderate seas.
