Recommendations for outdoor activities today:
Persons heading outdoors today should be prepared for hot conditions, with a mix of sunshine, cloudy periods and a few showers, as well as a 40% chance of isolated thunderstorms. Carry an umbrella or lightweight raincoat, particularly if you will be out during the afternoon, and stay alert for sudden heavy downpours, which can produce gusty winds and localized street flooding. With temperatures reaching 33°C in Trinidad and 31°C in Tobago, wear lightweight, breathable clothing, stay hydrated and use sun protection when sunshine is present. If travelling or engaging in outdoor activities near the coast, exercise caution around showers and thunderstorms, as seas are moderate with waves of 1.5m to 2m in open waters and choppy conditions near showers in sheltered areas. Conditions are expected to become more settled by late afternoon, although isolated showers may linger.
